Question

Import custom templates using Labs

I was able to import a custom Word invoice in QBO.  I can create an invoice from scratch and choose the template, all works fine as expected.

A problem arise when I create an invoice from an estimate.  Even if the corrrect template is selected, it reverts to the Standard QBO template when attempting to preview or print.

Would anyone know why this is happening?

Hi there,

Welcome to the Community. I'll be happy to help and steer you in the right direction.

Good job on importing the Word invoice to QBO! Now to the issue you're experiencing, does this happen when you create a brand new invoice? You can test this by creating a dummy invoice > print or preview it > delete it after testing. Let me know what happens.

As I posted, I am able to create a brand new invoice and the template works fine.

When I create an invoice from an estimate, the template does not work.

I see what you're saying. I've just checked with our engineers and this is the default setting in QBO. The program only allows you to use an imported template when creating a brand new invoice and not creating one from an estimate. I know how much this feature would help you save time. I encourage you to leave feedback for our engineers. You can do this by clicking the gear icon and looking for Feedback. New product ideas and improvements are largely based on the feedback we get from other users like you. Feel free to ask questions. :)
