Question

Include Project on Invoices

The ability to track invoices against projects is great, but this feature is half-finished. We need a way to show that detail on the invoice. I choose the project before generating an invoice, but only the customer name comes through. There is a workaround to include a custom field with the project name, but now I am typing the same project info over and over again.

The project name should also be in the subject line for emails.

Hello LovePS,

Thanks for sharing the details of what you're looking for when it comes to invoicing from and for your projects. It sounds like what you're saying is you'd like for QuickBooks Online's invoices to indicate somewhere where they're for a specific project and you'd also like to see that detail in the subject line of the email.

These are great suggestions! As you've noticed, right now the invoices sent from the program include the customer's name, but not that of the related project. If you've got a customer that's not only working with you on a project, I can see how that would be confusing.

It sounds like you've come up with a workaround that's working, even if it is a bit clunky. I encourage you to both continue using that workaround as well as submit your comments about this feature using the Feedback feature in the Gear icon. The comments left there are forwarded to our product development team for consideration in future updates and I want to assure you that we're always on the lookout for way to enhance the usability of the program.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you in the meantime. Have a great rest of your day!

To QB,

If QB won't provide the project fields as an option in the invoices templates, then at least provide the ability to assign an invoice template to a project.
