Question

Invoices are calculating GST wrong

Just last week when I enter an invoice it's adds 2.5% gst to the total and then there is no tax at the bottom of the invoice.
eg - my item is monthly office fee - quantity is 1 rate is $9.49 but then in the amount column it puts in $9.73. Why????

I was hoping it would correct itself but I can't figure this out.

Hi Denise92,

I appreciate you reaching out to Community. QuickBooks is designed to help make your work easier and I'll be happy to help make that happen.

First, I'd like to start off by doing some troubleshooting to determine if this isn't a browser related issue. When was the last time you cleared cache and cookies on your browser? Doing this will help fix most issues the site may be having. Here's an article which shows you how to do that: How to clear Cache and Cookies. Let me know if your taxes are showing correctly.

If you're still having issues, I recommend contacting our support team using this link. One of our agents will be glad to take a look at your account and give you a hand. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks for the reply James. I use QB Desktop so browsers shouldn't be an issue.

I'll have to call in.

Thanks

My mistake. I'll be glad to do some troubleshooting related to this issue for QuickBooks Desktop.

Based on what you've described, I recommend checking for data damage on the account. Here's an article that'll show you how to do that: Fix data damage on your QuickBooks Desktop company file. In case there's an issue with setting up the tax code, I recommend referencing this helpful article here. The article goes over the process for setting up sales tax on your account.

Give this a try and let me know how you make out. I'll be on standby.
