I need to keep track of some quarterly expenses and I would like to create a project where I can allocate them, but the system asks me to link it to a client.

Hi there usergustavo-perez,

It's vital that all transactions are correctly entered so that your sales totals can be correct.. QuickBooks Online is a great tool that allows you to create projects in order to keep track of profitability on various jobs done for customers. I can provide some information about projects.

Projects are meant to represent a job or project done for a client, so it must be associated to a customer. There isn't any way to keep track of a project without associating it to a customer. You may benefit from using classes to keep track of those expenses instead, as they don't need to be associated to a customer. You can view some information about classes in QuickBooks Online in this article.
