Question

Is there a way to automatically apply a volume discount on a product. i.e. no discount < 10lb sold, 2% discount on 11-20lbs and 5% on 30lbs . I'm using QBO in Canada

Hi there t-m-gunderson,

It's vital that your sales are entered properly so that your customers receive the correct invoice or sales receipt. QuickBooks Online is a great tool that's able to help you keep track of amounts owed to you by your customers on their invoices as well as the amount you owe to your suppliers for their bills. I can provide some information about discounts in QuickBooks Online.

In QuickBooks, there isn't a specific way to have a discount set up to automatically appear for certain quantities of items. One way you could enter this discount would be to add an extra line called Discount, and make the discount a negative amount to subtract it from the invoice.

I can see how having a feature that automatically adds discounts based on quantities of items sold would be able to help you save time when entering invoices for your customers. I recommend you leave feedback in the system by clicking on the Gear Icon, then Feedback. The comments made in that section are taken into consideration when our developers create new features for QuickBooks Online. I'll pass along your feedback on my end as well.
