Is there a way to have subtotals from estimates printed on the estimate or sent with the estimate in an email. I want the subtotal to show as a line item on the estimate.

QuickBooks Online is a great program for managing your estimates as it makes it simple to create them. I'd be glad to walk you through on how to add subtotals to the estimates.

To do this, click New (+) > Estimate > enter the estimate details > click on Add subtotal and you'll be able to see the subtotal as a line item on your estimate.
