Is there an option to create a PAYMENT receipt directly from the invoice that was just paid, rather than a SALES receipt which requires manual entry from same sale?

Customer has requested a receipt of payment for 2 fully paid invoices with multiple line items on each. The app provides a sales reciept option to issue at the time of sale but I don't see why I can't produce a receipt directly from the invoice, preventing the need to manually enter items a second time.

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online provides sales receipts for your customers effortlessly.  I'd be happy to assist!

 

When you 'Receive Payment' towards an invoice, you'll have the option to Save and Send.  This option will open a preview of the customer receipt.  Ensure their email address is accurate and proceed to hit Send and Close.  Follow these steps to receive payment toward an invoice;

 

1. From the left menu, open Sales then Customers

2. Locate the customer and click on Receive payment in the Action column

3. Enter the Customer name, Payment date, Payment method, and the account to Deposit to

4. Checkmark the appropriate invoice in the list of Outstanding Transactions

5. Enter the amount in the Payment field

6. Hit Save and send.
