Question

Is there any way to auto populate taxes on an invoice within quickbooks online easily when I have over 500 lines to fill in?

Hi there adele-neal,

It's important for your invoices to have the correct tax codes so that the amounts you file to the government are correct. Quickbooks Online allows you to add default taxes to be able to help you save time in entering transactions. I can provide some assistance with this.

You can add a default tax code to both Products and services, as well as customers. In order to add a default tax code to a product or service, navigate to the Sales tab, then Products and services. Select a product you want to modify, then click Edit. You'll be able to add a default tax code for this product by selecting one in the drop-down menu for Tax.

If you were to want to add a default tax code to a customer, go to the Customers list located in the Sales section. Click on a customer you want to modify and click Edit. In the Tax info subsection, you can associate a tax code for their transactions.

When adding this default tax code to a customer or product and service, this will only change the default for future transactions and won't affect any ones done in the past.
