Hi lindsey-lea,

QuickBooks Online comes equipped with tons of awesome features that make managing the books for your business a walk in the park. Some transactions such as Estimates and Invoices or Purchase Orders and Bills are linked, and it's important that you know how to convert one to the other. Let me go over this with you.

While converting an invoice into an estimate isn't possible, you do have the ability to turn an estimate into an invoice. An estimate is like a quote, bid, or a proposal for work you intend to do. Once it's been formalized and agreed upon, you create an invoice to officially bill your customer for the job. Here's how you can convert an estimate into an invoice:

  1. Navigate to the Sales tab from the left menu.
  2. Choose All Sales and find the Estimate you created.
  3. Choose Create invoice from the Action column.
  4. Select whether you want to create your invoice for the total of the estimate or only a portion.
  5. Hit Create invoice.
  6. Update the invoice as necessary, ensuring that the customer field and corresponding information is correct.
  7. Check to be sure that there's a linked Estimate on the invoice, which shows you the converted estimate.
  8. Once complete, hit Save and close or Save and send.

You'll find these steps and so much more in the article below. Please check it out to learn more about creating Estimates.

Have a great evening!
