Question

Looking to have terms of -120 days, so that the payments are due in advance of the invoice date. Any insight? My imported terms of advance payment are not working...

Our revenue is declared at time of activity, thats when GST becomes due. But we require advance payment, hence the negative terms.. It worked great in desktop but am stumped here in QBO. Any advice appreciated.

Hi marilyn-murphysp

Glad to see you in Community.  Welcome!  QuickBooks Online also has the option for you to set terms on your customer invoices to ensure you receive payment on time.  I'd be happy to help you with this!

To add a specific term to your invoices, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Gear icon in the top right corner of the dashboard

2. Choose Account and Settings

3. Select Sales

4. To the far right of the Sales Form Content section, click on the Edit icon

5.  In the box for Preferred Invoice Terms, type in -120 and you'll see the option to +add

6.  Then enter the due by a Certain Day of the Month

7.  Save and then Done

That's it!

When you create a new invoice for a customer, you'll now see the term you've created and it'll let you edit the date due.

Should you require any additional assistance or have any other questions, please feel free to reach back out.  We'd be happy to assist you!
