Hello pppdarren-gmail-,

It's great to hear that you're sticking with QuickBooks, and I hope that QuickBooks Online meets your needs when it comes to the bookkeeping for your business. I can explain what's happening with your custom form numbers between estimates and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online gives you the option to enter custom form numbers. The thing with that, however, is that custom form numbers for one sales form apply to all sales forms, which is why you're seeing that sales receipt form numbers are pulling from estimates. There isn't a way to change this setting, so my recommendation is to either be mindful of needing to change the custom number each time or have a more unified numbering system for all the sales forms.

I know that having the option to have custom numbering systems for each form type would be useful, and I encourage you to submit this as feedback to our product development team using these steps: How do I submit feedback? The team reads through the feedback they receive and considers them for future updates to the software. To see new updates, check out this page, which is updated quarterly: QuickBooks Online Feature & Product Updates

I hope this helps shed some light on what's going on. I'll be here if you've more questions.
