Hi there,

Great question! Currently, there's no Sales Order feature in QuickBooks Online. You'd have to use an estimate by clicking the plus icon (+) and choosing Estimate. The good thing about this is that an the estimate is a non-posting transaction which can be turned into an invoice a later time.

Essentially, the invoice will act as the sales order in this case. You may be wondering how you can turn an estimate into an invoice. Don't worry, I'll show you how. To do this,

  1.     From the left menu, select Sales, then choose All Sales.
  2.     Find and open the estimate/quote.
  3.     Select Create invoice.
  4.     Add more details to the invoice as necessary, then select Save and close.

  •     You can only invoice an estimate with Accepted or Pending status. To update the status of the estimate, select the drop-down under the customer name.
  •     Estimates imported from QuickBooks Desktop show as Closed in QuickBooks Online.

Now you're able to convert an estimate into an invoice! If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to assist. :) Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your week.
