Quickbooks identifiers on emailed invoices

Having the ability to email invoices directly from QuickBooks Desktop makes processing customer sales easy and time efficient. I can see how being able to set the name of the PDF file would be beneficial to you. I'll explain the available options for you. 

The PDF file name is set by the QuickBooks Desktop program and isn't customizable, but there's a workaround for this if you still want to set the name to the invoice number only. This is to save the invoice as a PDF file to your computer and then send it to your customer from outside of QuickBooks Desktop. Here's how to save the invoice to your computer:

1. Select the down arrow under the Print icon.
2. Click Save As PDF.
3. Choose the file location and give it the name you'd like.
4. Click Save.

Alternatively, you can check out some of the 3rd party apps that can integrate with QuickBooks Desktop. There are a variety of different app types, including apps specifically for invoicing and sales tracking. You may be able to set the invoice PDF name when generating an invoice through there. I also recommend submitting Feedback to our program developers regarding the ability to set the name of invoice PDF files before emailing them through QuickBooks Desktop.
