Recording Referral Commision Expense

Hi,

 

I have Sales recorded for $599 but need to pay refferral fee $100 to another guy, so what is best method ?

 

1 Recording sale as net sales of 599 - 100.

2 Recoding sale fully at 599 and recording marketing expense as 100.

 

Please share reasoning to help me understand.
