Requesting deposit on estimates - I don't have that option

Hi,

I'm new to QB online, and am setting up everything. I've gotten Quickbook Payments approved for my invoices (just sent my first one out). I'm looking at how to request deposits on my estimates. From looking online they say I should have "+ Request a deposit", yet I don't have this option.

I have set Settings > Accounts & Settings > Sales > Progressive invoicing to ON

It was written on another forum page that if I have Quickbook Payments and "the new version of estimates/invoices" I can do this. But I appear to not have the new version (It's supposed to have the word NEW next to it?

What's the scoop to do this easily and seamlessly?

Estimate > Approved, get deposit > Send receipt for payment and get paid > Do the job > Convert to invoice send invoice with what's left to pay > Receive balance owing.

Thanks for any help!

Hi there, @vchiline. I can share with you some information about requesting deposits on estimates in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The option to request and receive online deposits on estimates and automatically convert estimates to invoices is currently available in QBO US. Once you're subscribed to QBO US and have QuickBooks Payments with the new version of estimates, you can request a deposit that customers can pay directly from an estimate. When a customer pays the deposit, the system automatically marks the estimate as accepted, converts the estimate to an invoice, and records the deposit as a partial payment on the new invoice.

You can learn more about this feature from this link: Request and accept deposits on estimates in QuickBooks Online.

For QBO Canada, you'll have to follow the accounts receivable workflow by converting the estimate into an invoice. Then, record a payment or a deposit.

Here's are the articles that will guide you through the process:

If your bank is connected to QuickBooks, you can review and categorize your entries from the Banking page.

Please let me know if you have any other follow-up questions about your estimates and invoices. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!
