I was presented with this pop-up when trying to compose a new invoice in QBO today:

Will somebody kindly explain how this change gets my invoices paid faster? I'm not at all impressed that QBO  is unilaterally making changes to my account preferences.

Hello Egon Diggler,

Thanks for taking a moment to share these concerns with us about the recent change to how invoices are emailed from QuickBooks Online. I know the kind of impact that these kinds of changes can have to QuickBooks users, and I want to make sure that your voice is heard.

As the message you're seeing in your books implies, when our development team makes these kinds of changes to the program, the goal is to simplify the bookkeeping process and other processes in QuickBooks Online, such as getting paid. In this case, removing the PDFs from invoices is intended to help QuickBooks Payments users get paid faster because then your customer will see they should go through the payment portal in the email to pay you. If there's also a PDF invoice, it might not be as clear that they should go through the portal.

If you'd like to re-include the option for PDFs, it's just a few quick steps, which I see are outlined in the message you included the screenshot of. Here's a breakdown of it.

  1. Go to the Gear icon (Settings).
  2. Choose Account and settings.
  3. Select the Sales tab.
  4. Click the Online delivery section.
  5. Check off the box PDF Attached.
  6. Click Save.

I invite you to leave feedback about this change using the steps outlined here: How do I submit feedback? Sharing your thoughts in the community is useful for hearing from other users and QuickBooks Team members like myself, but for feature feedback, sharing with our product development team is best. When you submit your comments using the steps in that article, they're forwarded to that team for consideration. If you're interested in learning about new features and updates to the software, feel free to bookmark our QuickBooks Online Feature & Product Updates page, which is updated quarterly at this time.

I notice that you've also posted comments to the Global QuickBooks Community. If you're using a global version of QuickBooks Online, keep in mind that it's best to comment in that section of the community to make sure you're getting answers that align with your product.

Wishing you the best!
