We are just starting to use quickbooks online so have previously been using a paper invoice book. Is there a way to get that data in to quickbooks?

Hey snow151,

Welcome to the QuickBooks family! It's nice to have you aboard. I hope you're enjoying the powerful features designed to simplify your bookkeeping. Depending on how you want these invoices to be recorded in QuickBooks Online, there are a few options to bring them in. I'll be happy to help you with this.

For historical transactions, it's recommended to use Sales Receipts as the payment is automatically recorded. If you only have a few invoices, you can create them manually in just a few easy steps:

  1. Select + New and then Sales Receipt.
  2. From the Customer ▼ dropdown, select a customer.
  3. Review the Date.
  4. From the Product/Service column, select a product or service. You can also select +Add new to create a new product or service right from the invoice.
  5. Enter a quantity, rate and change amount if needed.
  6. Select a Sales tax rate.
  7. Click Save and close

If you want to keep a record of these paper invoices, you can even upload them as attachments

Using a CSV file is the quickest way to import a large number of invoices in bulk. This even makes it easy to instantly create your customers at the same time. Simply click the Gear icon and select Import data to get started. It's vital to format this file correctly to ensure your data gets imported accurately. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
