Hello and welcome to the QuickBooks Community!

It's great to have you join us and I love that you've chosen QuickBooks Online to manage your business's books. Making sure you have the right fit and the steps you need to track your data is important, and I'd be happy to get you started with some of the options in QuickBooks Online.

QuickBooks Online's Plus-level subscription has a great feature called Projects that I think may be just the kind of thing you're looking for. With this feature, you can organize your data in a way that all the transactions related to a project can be found in that one place. You can consider setting up your sub-contractors as vendors to create billable expenses, then create the customer invoices from that data with a markup.

I've got several articles here that shed more light on what this feature does. Check them out below.

To test some of this out before committing to the Projects feature in your own books, you can take the QuickBooks Online Test Drive account for a whirl. The Test Drive is a Plus-level account with mock data so you can play around with the features available. Here's how to access it: Test drive QuickBooks Online

If you have more questions or would like to discuss this feature in more detail, the QuickBooks Online support team would be happy to go over this with you. With the options below, you'll be able to have a one-on-one conversation to make absolutely sure you've got the information you need moving forward.

As another option, consider having a construction management app with the subcon feature.
