We need to update our Services (names, prices, etc). Should we create new ones or change existing?

Keeping your Products and Services up to date in terms of pricing, information, and names is a great way to keep your books organized. QuickBooks Online makes it easy to keep these things organized, and I'm happy to explain how you can edit your Services as well as make new ones, based on what you think is best for your business.

If the names and prices are for the exact same service, and you won't be offering the service at the old price or name in the future, then editing the items is a great option. To edit your service items, hover over the Sales menu from the left and select Products and Services. Locate the service item you'd like to edit from the list, then hit Edit from the Action column. Be sure to hit Save when your changes are complete.

If you're inclined to keep the older version of the service item, or if you think you'll use it again in the future, you're welcome to locate it from the Products and Services page and use the arrow in the Action column to Make inactive. This means that it won't show on your list of Products and Services anymore, but if you want to make it active again, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Navigate to the Products and Services page of the Sales menu.
2. Hit the Funnel dropdown next to the search bar above the Name column.
3. Within Status, select Inactive or All, then hit Apply.
4. Choose the option to Make active within the Action column.

The decision you make comes down to personal preference and future business plans. You've got the option to make unlimited edits to a service item, so if you edit it and decide you want to revert the changes, simply edit it again.
