What does it mean when my new invoice populates an invoice number that is non-sequential and contains the characters "-REV" this has just begun happening

Hi jperry-bartel-gm,

 

Thanks for reaching out here.  QuickBooks Online provides the option for you to customize your invoice numbers as needed.  You can reset the sequence of your forms in a few steps.  I'd be glad to show you how!

 

When you use the Custom Transaction Numbers feature in QuickBooks Online, you'll also have the option to 'reset' the sequence on your forms, as you see necessary.  Follow these steps to turn the feature on;

 

1. Open your Settings ⚙ and select Account and Settings

2. Open the Sales tab on the left menu

3. Select the Edit ✎ to the right of the Sales Form Content section

4. Turn on Custom Transaction Numbers

5. Hit Save and then Done

6. Open an invoice and enter the desired custom number you want to apply.  This will set the automatic number sequence moving forward.
