Question

What is the process to close the quickbooks account? We have closed the corporation. What about the information that CRA may want future access to for audits?

Hello ljmartin4,

These are great questions. I'm sad to hear your corporation has closed, but I know how important it is to make sure you have the information you need in your records and to stop paying for the service when no longer using it. I can help you with both.

When you cancel a QuickBooks Online account, you'll have access to the data in the account for 12 months after cancellation. Beyond that, the data is purged from our system. In light of this, it's important to make sure you export all the important reports and information you need. Here's an article that goes over the export options and how to do it: Export reports, lists, and more

Next, here are the steps for cancelling your account.

  1. Select the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Click Billing and Subscription.
  4. Choose Cancel.

For more information about cancelling, including what to do if your subscribed through an app store, check out this article: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription

If your billing is through your accountant, you'll need to speak with him or her to cancel the account.

I'm here if you need more clarification about any of that.
