Question

When I add a file, note or picture to an invoice, does the client see any of them?

Hi shuttermax,

Welcome to the Community family! Knowing how every feature in the program works helps you choose the best option when managing your books. I'll be happy to clarify this question for you.

When you attach a file or note as an attachment in QuickBooks Online, you have the option to Attach to email or not. If that box is unchecked when sending the invoice, the client will not receive that attachment. If the Attach to email box is selected and you don't send or re-send the invoice, nothing is shown on their end either. In case you come back to an invoice that you've sent and edit some information in there such as dates, amount, etc., these updates will not show on their invoice but will show on the e-invoice associated with it. Your customer will not receive any notification about those modifications, but if they refresh or access back the e-invoice link, they will see those changes even though you didn't re-send the edited invoice.

I hope this helps you better understand how the invoicing system works! Don't hesitate to reach out if you have more questions.
