Question

When I am entering a supplier's invoice, why does the total, tax info (if applicable), and total of the invoice appear in the Item details section in of Category details?

The amounts are also hidden by scroll bars that don't work, but seem to show up probably in the expense listings.

Hi patamcknight-gma,

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online is a powerful program with the features you need to complete your daily tasks with confidence.  It's important that you're able to enter your vendor bills and record payments seamlessly.  I'd be glad to assist!

Due to the unexpected behavior you've described, I recommend clearing cache on your browser, if you haven't done so already.  When you're ready, enter the supplier bill by following these steps;

1. Open +New from the left menu and select Bill under Suppliers

2. Use the ▼ dropdown and choose the Supplier name

3. From the Terms ▼ dropdown, select the suppliers preference

4. Enter the Bill dateDue date, and Bill number, as they're recorded on the invoice you received

5. Complete the bill details in the Category details section

6. Choose the Expense account you use to track expense transactions, from the Category ▼ dropdown, then add a Description

7. Enter the Amount and Sales tax

8. When finished, hit Save and close.

Here's a helpful guide to assist with recording bill payments in QuickBooks Online.
