Question

When I go to write an invoice the EFT choice to pay us is not there. How do I go back to set this payment method up?

Hello usershfisher3,

Welcome to QuickBooks Community! I see you'd like to enable your customers pay their invoices using EFT payment method.  With the program, you can record your customer payments in a few different ways. Let me give you a hand with this.

The options for recording your customers' invoice payments in QuickBooks Online include manually entering the transactions or using the QuickBooks Payments add-on service. There isn't a built-in feature for accepting EFT payments, but I'll go over each of these so that you can decide if they'll work for you.

Manually recording invoices and their payments involves a few steps, but it's easy. Although it doesn't include an integrated EFT option, however, you're able to communicate to your customer using the Message on invoice field at the bottom of the invoice, informing them that the business accepts EFT as a method of payment.  When recording invoices and their payments manually in the books, you can highlight EFT as the payment method by clicking on the drop-down arrow for Payment Method custom field and select EFT from the list or select Add New to add it. Here's a community article that explains in details how this is done: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

If you are looking to use QuickBooks Online Payments, you can set it up right through your account. Setting up the Payments feature allows your customers to pay you directly when they choose Pay Now right from the invoice. Please note, the Payments feature accepts credit cards as the payment method but not EFT. To learn more about the QuickBooks Online Payments feature, you can click on the following links:

The Payments feature can be setup using a web browser, the QuickBooks Online app for Windows/Mac or on the mobile app. To setup using a web browser or the QuickBooks Online app for Windows/Mac, you’ll need to click on the Gear icon on the top-right side of your screen, select Accounts and Settings, click on Payments tab on the left-hand side of the screen and click on the green button that states Learn more and it'll direct you to the page to setup QuickBooks Online Payments. You can setup the payments feature on the mobile app by tapping Settings, select Accept Payments and tap on Set up Payments.

There might be third-party applications that enables EFT payment methods on invoices. You can check out third-party apps that sync with QuickBooks Online by navigating to the Apps tab on the left menu and you can search for the name of the app or browse by category.

Please don’t hesitate to submit a Feedback to our software developers about this payment feature. Your feedback will be taken into regard for future updates on the software. You can submit your feedback by clicking on the gear icon and select Feedback under the Profile or Your Company column.

I'll be here to help if you need further assistance. Have a great day!
