Question

When someone pays me by credit card why do i have to pay 3% commission from my account? Why cant the payment system add that fees to the customer for the payment?

Hello rajbirrehal,

I love that you're using QuickBooks Payments to work with your customers. It makes sense that you have questions about the fees attributed to using this feature, and I'd be happy to go over this with you so you have a sense of how this service works.

QuickBooks Payments' current rates per transaction processed through the system are 2.9% + $0.25, which are charged to you as the one using the service. The reason they're reflected against your bank account rather than the customer transaction is because you signed up for the service and are responsible for the charges. I recommend taking a look at the Intuit Canada Merchant Agreement for more details about these charges and how they work.

We always welcome feedback about the features and services available for QuickBooks Online, so feel free to take a moment to share your thoughts about this as feedback using these steps: How do I submit feedback? The comments left that way are forward to the product development team for consideration in future updates.

I've also got the Intuit Canada Acceptable Use Policy for QuickBooks Payments for your reference as well. This link, as well as the merchant agreement, are useful to keep on hand so you can stay up to date with how QuickBooks Payments works from a service perspective.

Wishing you the best!
