Hi there,

Including sales tax on your invoice is essential for proper bookkeeping. I can see how it would be frustrating for the GST to be removed as you're editing the invoice. I'd be happy to explain what may be happening, and how you can prevent this moving forward.

The invoicing workflow in QuickBooks Online works from right to left, and top to bottom. That means that you'll want to enter your details in this order so as to prevent the GST (or whichever tax code you select) from being removed as you work. For example, when entering a line item, enter the product or service first, then the description, the quantity, the amount, then the tax.

If you're following this workflow and you see that the GST is still disappearing as you work, try clearing the browser's cache and cookies. These are the stored Internet files that build up over time and they can really bog you down. Here's how to clear them: How do I clear my browser cache and temporary Internet files?

If the issue persists, try using an Incognito window in Google Chrome. This is a private window that runs independently from the rest of your browser. Here's more information about what that is and how to use it: Browse in private
