I'll guide you in changing the address on your 1099 filed through QuickBooks Online (QBO), krutledge.

First, let's check the status of your form and check if there's a rejection. Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes and click 1099 filings.
  2. Look for the alert on the page. It'll indicate why the IRS rejected your 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC filings.

If it's rejected, from the filings tab, click Void forms. Then, to change the address or correct an info that caused the rejection, here's how:

  1. Select the Contractors tab and click Prepare 1099.
  2. Hit Edit and change the address or make your necessary corrections.
  3. E-file your 1099 forms again.

However, if the status is completed or accepted, you'll need to submit an amendment form. You can do this by printing a copy and mailing it to the IRS. Here's how to file the amended form:

  1. Order 1099-NEC/ MISC IRS forms online at IRS Online Ordering for Information Returns and Employer Returns.
  2. Fill out the 1099-NEC/MISC form and make the necessary changes to your address. Then, tick the Corrected box.
  3. Once done, mail the form to the IRS.
