1099 status in QBO

My efile status in QBO is "sent" and I have not received an efile receipt.  According to the company information the status should be Not submitted or submitted.  Why does mine say "sent".

I am on QBO Simple Start.  My credit card was charged for the 1099 service.   I see the list of 1099s in my 1099 dashboard.

Is there something else I have to do?

Hi there, @jenjohnson2020.

I'm happy to provide additional information about your 1099 filing status in QuickBooks Online.

The status of your e-filed 1099 can be viewed under Filing status. It can either be one of the following:

  • Not Submitted: You haven't e-filed the forms with the IRS. Thus, you can keep revising it as needed.
  • Submitted: You have e-filed the form to the IRS. This can also be shown as Sent on your screen. If you need to revise it, you'll need to file a manual amendment.
  • Received by IRS: The IRS has received your form. They could be currently processing it or have already approved it. You'll receive an email confirmation approximately a week after the IRS accepts and confirms submissions.

As of the moment, you just need to wait for the IRS to receive your form since you've already e-filed and submitted your 1099 to the IRS.

Welcome to the Community space, jenjohnson2020. I have the information you need about the e-filing status of the 1099 forms.

The Sent status indicates that tax forms were successfully submitted to the recipient and is also referred to as Submitted in the system. You can obtain an e-file receipt once the IRS receives it. Please note that it usually takes a week for the submission to be approved and confirmed. Check out this article for more information: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

You can also print your 1099 and 1096 forms within the program.

Thank you - how long does it take to go from sent to submitted?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, jenjohnson2020.

If you're seeing a "Sent" status for an e-filed 1099, this would mean it's in a Submitted status. 1099s with a Submitted status can also display with a Sent status.

What this means is you've successfully e-filed your form to the IRS. If you need to revise it for any reason, you may need to file a manual amendment. You can use these IRS instructions and forms to do so.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with 1099 statuses which may come in handy moving forward: Create & file 1099s

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
