Question

1099 won't process

I have tried 57 times to prepare my 1099s and get passed the State requirement page. I have 173 to process. When I click the box at the top it will only give me 100....so I have to go manually select the other 73...each time I do this it bounces me back to Prepare. Is there a batch limit? When I try to process only 100 at a time it actually does take me to the payment page...anyone else have this issue?

I appreciate the steps you've taken to process the 1099 in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let's clear up the reasons why some of these are unable to proceed with the filings.

Please take note that QuickBooks automatically excludes items from the list for the following reasons:

  • Payments that are made via credit card, debit card, or third-party system, such as PayPal or Venmo to vendor. This is because the financial institution reports these payments on a 1099-K, so you don't have to.
  • Payments below the reportable 1099 threshold. Usually, this is less than $600.
  • Payments made to known corporations like Home Depot or Intuit. Corporations don’t need 1099s.
  • Typically, reimbursements don’t need to be included in the total amounts. We excluded those, too - based on the chart of account names. This can vary, so check with your accountant if you are not sure
  • Contractors and vendors residing outside the US don’t typically require a 1099 form.

If you have verified that none of these reasons apply, I recommend contacting our customer support team for further investigation. They can provide additional assistance with this matter.

Once everything is set up, you can run a payroll report. This report will deliver a detailed summary of your company’s payroll expenses, including employee salaries, bonuses, taxes, and other related costs.

Additionally, you can consider exploring QuickBooks Payroll. Their expert assistance will give you the confidence that your forms are filed accurately, allowing you to focus on running your business.
