Question

Can anyone tell me whether QuickBooks online uses EFTPS.com when submitting federal withholding?

I have recently stepped into handling the accounting through QB Online for our small business. I'm trying to determine if I need to set up an EFTPS account, and the CEO is not certain whether he previously did this.

Does anyone know whether QB uses EFTPS when filing federal withholding? If they do, that would answer my question, and I'd be able to check that reports and withholding are being filed in a timely manner.

Thank you.

@LP60  I don't know whether QBO does, but Desktop certainly did. Though, I haven't tried using the QuickBooks EPay since EFTPS started requiring MFA for their website.

It would probably be worth setting an EFTPS account up in any case; it's a fairly quick process, and it's not a bad idea to have a back-up for when QBO inevitably breaks itself again.

We're glad to have you here, LP60. I got the details about filing federal withholding with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I agree with FishingForAnswers that QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) needs an Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) account to file federal taxes and forms.

However, QBO works differently. Unlike QBDT, QBO does not require an EFTPS account. Instead, if you use E-services, the program will handle your tax payments and filings electronically.
