It seems you're encountering challenges migrating your historical payroll data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), JSpring79. To clarify, QBO does not automatically migrate historical payroll data from QBDT. I'm here to share why you can't see your payroll history.

To do this, gather key payroll history information, including pay stubs or payroll reports showing year-to-date amounts. Then, start the setup in QBO by signing in as the primary admin. Add the payroll history information to QBO. Before you begin, ensure you have employee pay stubs or payroll reports with year-to-date amounts. These should detail each pay item, deduction, tax, and net pay. Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation panel, navigate to Payroll, and then select Overview.
  2. If you haven’t already, add all of your employees paid this year in the Tell us about your team task. Include all employees that no longer work for you. Make sure to set up each pay item, deduction, contribution, and tax showing on their pay stubs or reports.
  3. Next, to Add your payroll history, click Start

If you need to enter your employee’s year-to-date paycheck info and company totals, check out this article for more guidance: Add pay history to QuickBooks Online Payroll.

For more information, please read this article: Resend an invitation to QuickBooks Workforce to view their pay stubs and W-2s.

In addition, I recommend, what I think will be beneficial for you and your business. We offer a service called QuickBooks Live. This subscription provides long-term assistance with tasks such as managing your chart of accounts, monthly reconciliation, transaction categorization, proper monthly closure of the books, and the production of Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports.

I'm also adding this article to help you learn how to import only your payroll info from QBDT Payroll to QBO Payroll: Move your QuickBooks Desktop Payroll info to QuickBooks Online Payroll (payroll only).

If there's anything else you need regarding managing your payroll history in QBO Payroll, just click the reply button. I'm always here to help.

You may have 2 options:

1. Resubscribe both subscriptions and ask for the refund within 60 days. The downside is that you may have difficulty getting the refund easily.

2. Use the trial version of QB Desktop Enterprise Gold
