Hi.

I cancelled my Quickbooks online subscription slightly over 1 year ago, but I need access to the W9 docs that were in there for my contractors.  If I enroll again, will the W9 docs still be there?

Retrieving important documents like W-9 forms for contractors is important for maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance. I understand the urgency and importance of accessing these documents, and I'm here to guide you through the process, @yapster.

To begin with, please know that when you cancel your QuickBooks Online (QBO) subscription, QuickBooks retains your data for over a year. After one year, your data will be permanently deleted.

Since you canceled your QBO subscription over a year ago, you can no longer access your W9 documents upon re-enrollment.

To resolve this, you can reach out to your contractors directly and ask for their W-9 forms or purchase a new QBO subscription and have them fill out their W-9.

If you're going to purchase a new QBO subscription, you can check out this article to learn how to prepare and file your Federal and state 1099s: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.
