When does the new state unemployment wage limit change in Quickbooks?

Best answer by BigRedConsulting

If you download the latest payroll updates, it should already be changed.

I downloaded all of the payroll updates and my Illinois Wage Base limit did not update to the 2023 amount.  Any ideas why?

I have the same problem -- also Illinois.  Wage base should be $13,271 but it still shows as $12,960.  If not updated soon, this will be a problem causing various adjustments for the higher wage earners.  Thanks.

I have the lastest update.  I called support, we did a share screen.  He had me verify data and repair files.  Nothing worked and he said "They could not do anything else on their end.  Didn't know what else to do."  I also sent a "feedback online".  We'll see if they respond.   I've used Quickbooks since the 90's.  Quickbooks need to send an update for Illinois!!

I, like many others, am having trouble with the Illinois State Unemployment Tax payroll item. I have applied the newest payroll updates. I am able to override the unemployment rate so that my tax percentage is correct. HOWEVER, illinois unemployment has a new WAGE BASE LIMIT of $13,271.00 which has not been updated by Intuit. The wage base limit is still showing last years limit of $12,960.00.  There is no option for us to override this wage base limit by editing the payroll item. Why is this limit not being updated with the latest payroll update? It is VERY concerning that multiple people are indicating that Intuit/Quickbooks  customer support is telling them that there is nothing they can do. This needs to be fixed!!  Any work arounds? Any idea when a new payroll release will have this fixed?

Seems like everyone in Illinois is having the same issue with the wage basis for state unemployment not updating to 2023 limit.  The only reason I use QB is for payroll.  If this isn't going to be fixed in a reasonable amount of time, guess I'll start using a different program.  It's too bad ... been using QB for about 20 years.

Hi mfa-a,

We haven't received an update from our engineers about Illinois's SUI wage base limit in QuickBooks. It was not included in the recent tax table update, as well.

I understand that having an incorrect limit could impact the tax calculation in the future. Rest assured that we're constantly updating QuickBooks to reflect the changes mandated by your state, and the wage base limit should be one of them. Stay tuned for some updates in the future.

Let me know if you have any other concerns with your payroll. Take care, and have a good evening!

No rush. Really, take your time.

It's not like getting payroll taxes right is important.  Or that literally millions of customers are paying Intuit to keep their tax tables up to date so their payroll is accurate.

Really, please just calmly go about your business. Don't stay late to fix it. Get to it whenever you can.
