Question

We are in Delaware and do not charge Sales Tax. The new process that just appeared somehow thinks we charge sales tax and AI is trying to calculate. How do I turn off?

Thank you for joining the Community, marylisa. I know how frustrating it can be when a new process suddenly appears, causing unnecessary calculations and confusion. It's especially concerning when it affects your business's financial management, like sales tax calculations.

If you have already set up sales tax and completed some transactions with it, the option to disable the automatic sales tax feature will be unavailable. Unless you delete all transactions associated with sales tax. While don't recommend that option, there are also workarounds you can consider like reviewing and setting up your customer's profile and products and services as tax exempted. Here's a link you can use as a reference: Understand and set up sales tax-exemptions in QuickBooks Online.

However, I recognize the benefit of the option to disable the automatic feature for your business. With that, I recommend submitting a feedback to our product development team. Our engineers will thoroughly review your suggestions and may consider implementing them in the future. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
  2. Type in your ideas, suggestions, or recommendations.
  3. Select Next to submit.

Furthermore, you can visit this resource to learn how sales tax are calculate in your system: Learn how QuickBooks Online calculates sales tax.
