E-file 941 in 2023 desktop not working

I am trying to submit Form 941 electronically in desktop 2023.  My payroll subscription is up to date, I checked this several times, restarted QuickBooks and my computer.  I am still receiving the pop-up:

"Problem: To file your return , you need the latest payroll updates.

Solution: Download the current payroll update by selecting the Employees Menu in QuickBooks and then selecting Get Payroll Updates."  My QuickBooks Desktop shows: Using Tax Table version: 22316

You are using payroll version: 09260340

You must update before: 11/15/2023

My subscription is active.

I did recently download and install QB Desktop 2024, but have not started using it.

Same... How frustrating.  Why these issues always seem to be end of quarter or even worse, end of year... If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it....

Same issue here. Quickbooks get this fixed NOW!

Is anyone from QuickBooks support even paying attention to this?  It would be nice to get a little feedback that they are at least working on it.

Hi, everyone. I understand your frustration and concern regarding the inability to e-file your 941 forms. I'll share an update on this matter.

There is currently an open investigation into this issue. Rest assured, our engineering team is working diligently to address the problem and is implementing a solution as quickly as possible. Please get in touch with our Customer Care Support team to add you to the list of affected users and receive updates once it's available. You can refer to the steps provided by my colleague @JenoP on how to contact our support.

In the meantime, consider printing and manually filing the 941 with the FED through the Federal portal as an alternative method.

Your patience and understanding are appreciated during this time. Please let me know how I can be of further assistance to you.

This site only allows 1 attachment, but I received a different error each time tried.  I attached the last error message I got. Maybe you can share these with your engineering team.

The 1st error #15270 showed payroll update not complete because of missing file.

The 2nd error #IC67305976 showed Internet Connection Error, server unavailable.

The 3rd error #PS060 shows as QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll Service is not currently available.

QB fixed their issue, e-filed successfully.

Yes, all good now. Thank you, QB. Much appreciated.

Hi I am having same issue, there seems to be an issue on Intuit's side. The system also won't send DD at this time either. System reporting it is intuit, can not update accountants.

Far down in the comment chain some say it is fixed and working, however that is not the case for us. I think for a lot of people this is an issue still.  I have actually been on the phone with Support off and on over the past quarter and reporting this issue.  Just last week was on a remote session with intuit for over 4 hours and it is still not working.   they are suppose to call back tomorrow after telling me last week that it was because it was to late to efile (was still trying to efile 2nd qtr 941 after qb told me it was filed in July)  this is beyond what we pay for!  I have been having this issue for a while!

I'm still not able to process any payroll forms in my QB Desktop 2021.  Every time I try, whether it's the Form 941 or a state form, I get the message that I have to update my Payroll.  I click on the Update, it runs for about 5 seconds, then comes back.  I try again and am told that I haven't done any updates in over 50 days.

I've updates QB (using the reset update option), re-booted, run it as Administrator, etc. - all to no avail. What else can I do to make this work?

I am having the same issue on 3 out of my 4 computers. Call for help twice with no solution. Have you had any luck.

Thank you,

I understand all the challenges you've encountered in updating your payroll, @MariaP2 and @DPMARTON.

For follow-up updates on your account, contact our payroll support, @MariaP2. This way, you can get the new subscription number. Your concern requires our assigned support's assistance, as they possess the necessary security protocols to access your account, which is beyond the scope of what can be done here in the Community space.

On the other hand, I'd also recommend contacting our payroll team, @DPMARTON. They have the specialized tools to ensure your concerns are addressed thoroughly. Also, they can refer this to our engineering department if necessary for a more in-depth resolution.

Moreover, I'll be adding further resources about filing tax forms and the taxes and forms that QuickBooks payroll submits for you:

Just click the reply button for further clarification regarding payroll taxes and updates. I'm always here to assist both of you.

Having the same issue. Sent file and is saying that it was sent to intuit but has gone no farther. I called earlier this week and was told the IRS hasn’t responded yet but it’s hasn’t gone that far for them to see it. What should I do

Thanks for joining this thread, Bookkeeper7689. I'm delighted to provide information about how e-filing 941 forms works in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

It's good to know that you have checked the status of your payroll tax filings. Please know there's a delay on the IRS side, so it's not showing on their end as completed. You'll want to wait until the IRS receives your submitted forms.

However, if you haven't received any updates from the IRS, I suggest contacting our Payroll Support Team so they can provide the necessary details you need about the forms you've e-filed.

Simply visit this resource that contains the time when support is available, depending on your type of subscription, or you can get their number in this article's QuickBooks Desktop Payroll section: Contact Payroll Support.

Additionally, check out this article to learn more about viewing your payroll tax payments and forms in QBDT: View your previously filed tax forms and payments.

Whenever you have any concerns about payroll forms, feel free to let us know. I would be happy to provide you with additional assistance. Stay safe, and have a great day!
