I have the message "Cannot connect to HMRC right now". I have signed up for MTD. I have a confirmation email saying I am enrolled. The VAT number in QB is the correct VAT number. What else can I do?

Hi,I have used the bridging software for 19/20 and transferred my spreadsheet output for the VAT 100 generated by my Desktop QB since MTD started. 20/21 we are fully over to the online QB and invoices and payments for the early part of 19 have been copied across. I am left now with a VAT exception item for each invoice entered since 1st April. This results in a large unfiled VAT amount. I have tried adjusting but the adjustment is applied to the current VAT not the incorrect exception.

Hi I am working on submitting my VAT return. On my VAT return, the "tax point" for all my sales and purchases is the date of the invoice, not the date on which I pay the invoice or receive payment. I am on the most basic quickbooks online and it seems I can only record expenses that have been paid. How do I get MTD VAT on quickbooks to recognise the invoice date of expenses rather than the payment date so that the expenses full within the correct VAT return period? Thanks
I'm trying to submit a VAT Return using the Flat Rate VAT Cash Based Turnover scheme but I can see how to amend the report on the file using MTD page. It is only giving the option of

After a long call to the Intuit Help Desk yesterday (and they were very helpful) I now have the correct VAT Return ready to file. However, I am getting an authentication error when trying to file the VAT Return with HMRC. The credentials I'm using are correct (username/password) as I am able to log in directly to HMRC. What can be the cause of this? Thank you, Sarah
Having problem in getting into my account
HiAround the 12th Sept using QB MTD link within the VAT window we filed our VAT quarter return to 31/08/19We were confirmed as LOGGED IN, we altered the dates as our quarter has been changed to match our year end.We also made some figure adjustments as we are Flat Rate. All figures matched and the FILE NOW link was clicked.VAT Summary report showed correct figures.Today VAT summary report ( same date period) shows all zero's, suggesting the report was filed.VAT Control account shows General Journal entry for 31/08/19 as vat0020 along with the correct figures As of today 07/10/19 HMRC have no record of the return and suggest the problem must be within the software, eg QBooks. We are running Desktop 2019 Pro Can anybody help please.
Hi I've entererd the wrong government gateway to my Quickbooks account - how can I change this?
About Making Tax DigitalMaking Tax Digital – or MTD as it’s often called – is the UK’s biggest tax shake-up in a generation. Making Tax Digital is HMRC’s plan to bring UK tax into the digital age, beginning in April 2019. In a nutshell, every UK business will be affected. Here’s what will change: All business-related transactions will have to be recorded digitally using MTD-compliant software or apps.Tax returns will have to be submitted to HMRC in a digital, MTD-compliant way. If you’d like to learn more about MTD then read on or check out the QuickBooks MTD hub. Which businesses are affected Businesses with an annual turnover above the VAT threshold (currently £85,000) will be required to keep their records digitally and file VAT returns online on a quarterly basis. Businesses who are currently exempt from having to file VAT returns online will also be exempt from MTD until otherwise notified by HMRC. MTD timelinesBusinesses with a turnover above the VAT thr
So it seems this MTD is much more problematic than originally conceived.. I have been informed through QB Online that I was due to submit a VAT Report on the 7th August, like pretty much everyone else. However, having been issued 2 notifications that I needed to submit a first VAT Report for months April to May, I responded to one, which was registered as 'Accepted' by HMRC, but the other (duplicate) demand for a report (for same period) remains open. And there's no indication of how to now submit my VAT Report for 7th August, now past of course. In the meantime, HMRC, all powerful as they are, issued a demand for a calculated VAT sum of over £1000 for the period covered by the first report, which they received, but did not receive. Advice please. Like many others, I'm feeling a little hung out to dry here, uncertain of who is to blame for this shambles and vulnerable to the redations of HMRC who, for whatever reason, are not getting the data they require.
Using MTD and submitting returns, however when using the old HMRC site - they would send reminder that return was due. Secondly once the return was submitted - the printed return would show payment due date Two very usefull tools - are quickbooks looking to add this to their service?

If you haven’t already done so, visit HMRC’s website and sign up to Making Tax Digital. You should wait 5 working days after your last VAT return has been submitted. 1.
