How to get QB to stop asking me to log into my Intuit Account

Very annoying! Every 7 days when I open my company file, QB asks me to log into my Intuit account (so I can use Payments, Payroll and TSheets).  We don't use any of those features.  I shouldn't have to log into an Intuit account!  It's a security issue - I do not wish to open a connection to Intuit wherin it might have access to my organization's financials.  If we don't need Payroll, Payments or TSheets, we should not have to access an Intuit account and with so much hacking in the world today, we should not have to open up a connection to Intuit that could possibly expose our data - it's not secure no matter how much security Intuit tries to bake into it.

How do I stop Quickbooks from requesting that I log into my Intuit account?  Is there a way to turn off this nagging request - so far the best I can do is to select the option that says Remind me in 7 days.  Where is the Never remind option or the setting to turn it off or the smarts in the app to realize that I don't have any of those features enabled, so to not ask in the first place?

Since launching 2022 and stating QBD will be SUBSCRIPTION BASED ONLY, it's clear they made this change so they can lock you out of your software if it's not renewed each and every single year. Get ready for the price hikes and complications.

I read through this thread and agree with all. Intuit is a train wreck and if a comparable program came along, we would all jump ship in a heartbeat.

You've got to ask yourself one question...Why is it so important to Quickbooks to have your personal information?

November 16, 2021

That is the question I would like the answer to as well.

The only possible answer I can come up with is that Intuit will start limiting the number of company files you can have on one license.  For example, we have several LLC that each have their own QB file but the same owner.

This is SUCH a pain to have to login for each one.  It also feels like an invasion of privacy.

I have looked at other accounting software the problem is Intuit has a pretty decent product at a fair price (maybe not going forward) that no one else has been able to compete with.  I do not want to use a cloud server.

For the time being I am putting up with the invasion, but will keep looking for a new accounting product.

I found the solution! I've moved most payroll to Paychex and now I only have to deal with the 'sign into your file.... now sign into your intuit account...' every second week! This isn't a complete fix of course, it will be a few more months before I can get the last few migrated over to Paychex, but once that is done I can uninstall quickbooks and this foolishness will be fixed for good. Hope this helps. FWIF - you can actually use any other payroll provider and this will still fix it for you.

I agree. There should be a way to set up a master account, like a Managing partner, for the various 'company' accounts that I manage. It is a nuisance to paste in a password every account. For that matter, sometimes the accounts open with out the sign in and sometimes they dont.  The best solution would be a preference in users and passwords to turn the darn thing off.

And on top of that if your internet is down, forget opening your Quickbooks files

It just took me 20 minutes to log on just to post this! You guys are a joke! IM not ordering checks or doing any kind of payroll, banking. That is why i bought the Desktop version! So i wouldn/t have to deal with this kind of stuff. IM REALLY TRYING TO KEEP MY COOL BUT THIS IS ANNOYING. i ONLY NEED qb TO TRACK MY JOBS AND INVOICING OUT. REALLY HEAR PEOPLES GRIPS AND FIX IT. iF I HAVE qb desktop im already secured thruogh my network, server and ISP. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WAY YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO GET MONEY FROM THOSE WHO DIDNT GET YOUR CLOUD VERSION AND ITS BULLSHEET!

I found a actual fix for me and thought someone might benefit from it. I am not a accountant or QB user, I am a contractor looking for a fix. QB technicians have never been any help so I stopped trying 15 years ago in calling them for anything, at least the user community has helped at times.

My customer had someone successfully duplicating his business checks and cashing them. His bank, Huntington Bank, implemented a scheduled task that runs every 20 minutes to only cash checks that were in Quickbooks. The computer that runs the scheduled task would freeze up with the "log into Intuit" which was preventing QB and the bank synchronizations causing vendors to not be able to cash checks. This computer is not used by any user and in a locked room, Alt-F4 doesn't help in this situation and is laughable since this is not a fix but rather a work around (takes me back to my Novel days lol), all users access QB via a RDP connection to our terminal server, which has never had this issue.

My customer had tried TSheets for a brief time and did not like it and switched to ADP for payroll. The Windows Registry didn't clean up when TSheets was removed, and was causing issues. If you are using QB payroll services this may not work for you but worked for me.

In the registry at Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Intuit\QBWebConnector\SOAPWebServices I removed all settings for TSheets, and removed any other values within Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Intuit that referenced TSheets. I compared the registry from the terminal server that did not have the issue so I could safely cleanup the affected computer (export registry keys for intuit to be safe).

If you are using QB/Intuit payroll services this may not be of any help, but I would check the SOAPWebServices key in the registry if you are not using QB payroll. At least you could remove the settings for any computer that does not need the payroll services.

Hope this helps someone out there...

For other users who want to create new company files without having to log into an Intuit account, I was able to do this with an older Qb version (QB 2019 for Mac - which fortunately I still have a working copy of): created a new company file called "Blank Co" which I'll just copy now and modify each time I need to set up any new files.

Obviously this isn't a fantastic solution to the general issue - just mentioning it in case it's helpful to anyone else.

And Intuit - please take heed of your frustrated customers here and retract the tentacles of needless control !!

Hello there, LekkerByDieSee.

I appreciate you for sharing the workaround you've done. I'll take note of it and share it with our Developers team. This way, they'll look into it and maybe added to our future updates.

Also, feel free to visit our Help Articles page for more tips on managing your QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm just a post-away if ever you have other concerns. I'll be around!

Adrian -

This work around, like so many others mentioned in this thread is all because of a change that your Developers team made about a year and a half ago when they inserted code in the desktop versions of QB that attempts to force users to log onto an Intuit account in order to proceed to use QB Desktop. This is a widely hated change. So, while you're having that chat with the Developers team tell them that they should write a patch that does only one thing, just this one and no other, it removes the hated log in to Intuit code from the Desktop versions.

Pretty simple request.

Intuit does not get it at all!
I have been using quickbooks since 1995. I have more than one company that I use it for, plus a trust account and my own personal account. I ran payroll on one company years ago but that was through ADP. About 4 years ago I added payroll to another S-Corp and my CPA ran it - it was through Intuit. I had a login for that payroll system and it all worked great. I entered the information from that into my own Quickbooks for the company.
This was all Quickbooks Pro Desktop - I NEVER connected any banks or internet services to that computer or to Quickbooks. I work in internet security and I KNOW BETTER!  MY DATA - MY FINANCES - MY COMPANIES.
Then comes the NEW QUICKBOOKS DESKTOP... all kinds of hoops to get the new version set up on Windows 10... and suddenly I need to log into my intuit account... WTF... I can't... I jump through hoops - OH GUESS WHAT? Intuit decides I must ONLY HAVE ONE login. THIS was a long process to figure out but it ended up that INTUIT decided the payroll account for one company was now linked to my other company...
THIS GETS STUPIDER
I cannot remove dead people that used to work for me because they no longer have email addresses or phone numbers and cannot therefor be removed as users. I cannot remove an old bookkeeper for whom I had another license for because SHE DOES have an intuit account for the company she currently works for and neither of us want to screw anything up with either of our accounts.
I BOUGHT DESKTOP QUICKBOOKS TO DO MY OWN BOOKKEEPING - PERIOD!

I do not want Intuit to have my business information.
I do my taxes.
I buy my software.
I protect my data.

How can Intuit
NOT understand this?

I am absolutely astounded that this thread has had such a vigorous life for nearly two full years. When I posted my gripe about the login requirement in September 2020, I had no idea that I would be receiving a continual stream of QuickBooks user complaints about Intuit imposing its ownership of our personal data by requiring us to regularly connect and then promoting a slow, but sure, transition into purely online data storage (exclusively on Intuit's terms) and rental software. I find this strategy colossally offensive and am actively seeking other accounting software to address my needs. If Intuit had taken the direction of online work as a complete option, I would be happy to continue with QuickBooks.  But, no.

Please don't respond with additional patronizing posts about how wonderful QuickBooks online services are and how important logging in is to security; they are all deflective corporatespeak for "we want to make you totally dependent on our company". I've had it and I'm outahere.

As usual, Intuit's garbage software keeps popping up for me to login to my intuit account - but that window never fully loads and freezes rending quickbooks useless until I force quit and open it again.  It isn't just my computer, it happens on all computers quickbooks is installed on.  I'm over intuit 1000%.  Time to move to Xero!
