Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

Hello QB Community; the business I work for recently upgraded from Quickbooks Desktop 2019 to 2022. Since then, we've had a few users report that whenever they open up Quickbooks, and Quickbooks crashes. This business relies on this software to keep balanced.
I've tried the Quickbooks Tool Hub features to try and fix the issue, but unfortunately the problem persists.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quickbooks several times with several QB technicians over the phone spending over 25 labor hours trying to get this work without crashing!
I've tried clearing the Google cache, and that didn't work.

I am also having issues with getting my email connected to invoices.

HELP!!!!! I have no clue how to fix this issue on my own. Has something like this happened to anybody else, or does anybody have an idea on how to fix this issue? I cannot be the only one who is experiencing this issue. When we had 2019 version, we did not experience any kind of crashing.

I'm having the same problem too. Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022. Up-to-date on all updates.

I appreciate all the replies from Intuit "agents" all of them telling me to contact tech support.  I've done that several times and wasted too many hours on the phone watching them point to my screen and try this, then try that.  It never crashes or shuts down when they are trying to get to the problem.  I honestly think i know more that some of the agents i spoke with.  One was actually reading from a manual, then telling me to try this.... oh well, guess I will have to put up with it, until they find a "fix" for this very flawed program.  The worst version yet.

My workaround had worked for a few weeks until now. I had clients say it's having the same crashing experience they had a couple of weeks ago. I went ahead and contacted support and told them I needed an R5 workaround. I have been told they do not have a workaround and their engineering team is still working to find a solution to this issue, but rest assured we will be notified once this is fixed. So I checked my workaround. The settings I had in edge pop up Allow list [*.]intuit.com has disappeared. This time I went into the client domain server and added [*.]intuit.com to "Allow Pop-up Windows on specific Sites" in the group policy and pushed it out to all PCs. Also, don't forget to set the default to Edge.

I had the exact same issue on a one of user workstation. I tried a bunch of different fixes but still not working.

Thank you for providing some information @AlcaeusF

Contacting support does little since we've all tried all their fixes:

-Run tool hub

-disable UAC
-check permissions

-reinstall

-file doctor

-update

-clear cache and cookies

Okay, so I am not the only one having this continual issue.  It is costing me money and patience.  My QuickBooks Desktop is continually crashing since I was forced to upgrade from QBD 2019 to QBD 2020 and above.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled the software.  I have run the QuickBooks Hub tool, so what else have you got to correct this issue?  I'm running out of excuses to give my clients for why their books aren't ready.

@crawson001

As a short term solution, put your QB program and company files on a hosting provider for the time being. You will monitor this issue until Intuit releases QBD 2023 next month.

Is it a Festivus Miracle? I was able to open 16 different companies this morning and cut checks in each one and was able to finish in 30 Minutes with out any crashes to QuickBooks or any other programs.  Usually as I am opening a company file, I have time to check e-mail, update a spreadsheet but not today, it ran extremely fast and efficient.  So did a Festivus Miracle happen overnight?

Well, I just wasted a couple of hours on the phone.  QB started once and wouldn't start again - shuts down before you can access help or anything else.  The only way we have been able to operate the program is by pulling the ethernet connection.  It works offline, but after so long this will be an issue with tax updates.  After a couple of payrolls are complete, I'll try the Chrome addition and the homepage preference and see if that helps.  This is extremely frustrating with the forced update.

I just added intuit.com to the allowed cookies list and for the moment anyway, QBDT is working while connected to the internet.  I left the person doing payroll downloading a tax table for the reinstalled QB.  Fingers crossed that this takes care of the issue.  If this does take care of it, why won't Intuit come out and say so.

We also are having these problems - Outlook, Excel and Word all will close when we open QuickBooks.

It is really time consuming as usually the computer has to be restarted.

Joining in here...  I have a client that just recently upgraded to 2022 R5 and when switching companies QB will crash, along with Outlook.  Just praying I'll read this forum and see a lot of happy posts when they figure this out.  But like many others, not holding my breathe...

There are some setting changes that help, at least in our experience.

1. Disable "Show home page when opening a company file" option.

Edit | Preferences | Desktop View | My Preferences.

2. Also Select "Don't save the desktop"

Edit | Preferences | Desktop View | My Preferences.

3. Check: Turn off pop-up messages for products and services.
Edit | Preferences | General | My Preferences

I have also been having this issue along with several other bugs. I called my IT guy and they looked into it and tried everything. They also are getting this complaint from several of their clients.

This is a big problem. This software is too expensive and too crucial to keeping business going for constant issues like this to keep happening.

Here it is August 17. Has Quickbooks come a with a real fix for this issue? Is there a way to roll the R5 Update to R4 or R3?

We're unable to undo or restore the release update, MM116.

I presume you've already tried the steps ReymondO and my colleagues shared above. I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Support to check this further using more tools.

  1. Click on Help.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Choose Contact us.
  4. In the description field, enter a summary of the scenario and hit Continue.
  5. Click Message an agent.

Please feel free to reach back out if you have more questions. Take care.

August 17, 2022

@JessT I presume you've already read through all 18 pages of this thread?  Please stop copying and pasting the same "help" directions to people that are telling you their software will NOT open.  I don't know what is more frustrating .... the issues with the software or this forum and lack of support from Quickbook's team members.  Now I am getting email notifications with this type of help and NO REAL ANSWERS.  Can someone from Quickbooks tell us when this will become a serious problem to them and when a fix will be available?

I have had issues with apps crashing (excel, browser and outlook) when working with QB 22 and couldn't get the program to update for two months.  Finally, I decided to right click the application, run as admin and reset the update.  Everything has been working smoothly for three days with no crashing.
