Quickbook Desktop 2022 Crashing and stops working

Hello QB Community; the business I work for recently upgraded from Quickbooks Desktop 2019 to 2022. Since then, we've had a few users report that whenever they open up Quickbooks, and Quickbooks crashes. This business relies on this software to keep balanced.
I've tried the Quickbooks Tool Hub features to try and fix the issue, but unfortunately the problem persists.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Quickbooks several times with several QB technicians over the phone spending over 25 labor hours trying to get this work without crashing!
I've tried clearing the Google cache, and that didn't work.

I am also having issues with getting my email connected to invoices.

HELP!!!!! I have no clue how to fix this issue on my own. Has something like this happened to anybody else, or does anybody have an idea on how to fix this issue? I cannot be the only one who is experiencing this issue. When we had 2019 version, we did not experience any kind of crashing.

I am having the same issue with my Premier Accountant Version (2022), and I have a client that is also experiencing this issue on a Standard Desktop version (2022)

This is not just a QB 2022 issue.  I am a QB advisor and run several different versions of QB on my computer.  In the last couple of months this crashing just started happening and it is happening in QB 20, 21 and 22 (i don't use 2019 anymore for any of my clients and only have one on 2020).  I think it happens daily on at least one client file.  I thought an update did something to make it unstable, because i have had QB22 installed since it came out back in September 2021 and it was really only in the last couple of months that it started happening.  It's very frustrating, because who has time to go through all the different fixes people are posting :(

Frankly it seems like a push to make people want to go to QBO.  Not happening here, that would slow my work down greatly

True it was Also Happening with the qb2020 version

I Did and add and remove programa

I received the notice today that the per-employee price is increasing 150% for the version of Desktop payroll we use.  And the price of Quickbooks desktop essentially tripled when they forced us onto the subscription model this year.

Lots of you probably already understood this but I had two revelations today.  One, Intuit is actively trying to price everyone out of Desktop and into Online.  Two, their pricing model depends on the accountants using Quickbooks so businesses have little choice.  Accountants don't have the time to deal with other bookkeeping programs or, heaven forbid, someone's homemade spreadsheets.  As long as Intuit makes its product the choice for accountants, businesses will follow.  That's why Desktop isn't fixed.  They just want everyone to be annoyed enough to flip over to Online - that's where they are putting their resources - to the extent they are putting resources into the products at all.  Most accountants I've talked to find online to be unreliable for the businesses, but a good choice for them.  slap the forehead emoji here

I'm an IT consultant, and I guarantee you none of my customers are moving to QBO. Half of them already moved out to a software called Drake Accounting (pretty good actually), and the other half of them are waiting on QB2023 to make the decision to jump ship. This is probably one of the most catastrophic handling of a technical difficulty by any tech company that I know of.

I encourage everyone to look for alternative accounting software since this problem apparently wont go away, because like Wideopenspaces said, they are forcing everyone into QBO, which is obviously so unethical given that they already increased the cost of QB like crazy in the past year.

I have the exact same problem

August 29, 2022

I have had the same issues!! Please know you're not alone.

August 29, 2022

My software consistently gives me error message "unrecoverable error" whenever I am doing my month-end billing.  It all started in April when I started using the QB email option to send out invoices.  I have had support and data services working on this and to-date, August 29th, I am still crashing.  I figured it took me an additional 6 hours to do month-end invoices.  I don't know what else to do.  This is ridiculous!

I have never had that same error message, but I did just "Add Firewall port exception for QuickBooks".  Hoping this solves my problem.  It seems like the most logical solution that was suggested so far.  Just running the tool hub or "fix my file" did nothing.  I will try to post link for the firewall change.  (starting at #3)

Our QuickBooks Enterprise 22.0 R5P keeps crashing when we print checks.  It happens in multiple company files.  We have tried repairing, reinstalling, etc.  Any fix in the plan for this?

We also use Quickbooks Desktop 2022 and it crashes 2 to 3 times on start up. I have a small engineering firm. I have determined that it is the little flashy ad that is built into this new version of QB that I had no choice to upgrade to from 2019. I have this Desktop 2022 on 2 different machines and we both get the same problem at the same time, at start up. After about 2 to 3 attempts the ad that is built in, the lower left hand corner no longer causes the glitch and Quickbooks stops crashing. If someone could fix that issue this would make me really happy.

I appreciate you for joining the thread, @EngineerUser. I've got an update regarding your concern about QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) crashing when used.

First, know that this is not the experience we want you to have here in QuickBooks. As I check here on my end, there's an investigation about QBDT crashing and then stopping working. Our Product Engineers are aware of this issue and currently working on a fix.

What I can recommend is that you'll want to contact our Customer Care Team. This way, they can add you to the list of affected users. Updates will then be implemented, and you'll be one of the first users to get notified. To begin, here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk, and then choose a way to connect.

In case you're using QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Plus. Know that you can contact our support team from Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM. But if you're using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, feel free to reach out to our support team any time, any day.

Additionally, here's an article in case you encounter performance issues using QBDT: Resolve QuickBooks Desktop performance issues: Manage your data file.

You can check this page just in case you bump in to some potential data issues in QBDT: Resolve Potential Data Issues in QuickBooks.

@EngineerUser, know that you can always get back to me anytime if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. It'll be my pleasure to help you out again. Take care, and have a nice day!

Can somebody at Intuit do something other than cut and paste the canned response of "First, please know that this isn't the kind of experience...."  That is a cop-out.  Intuit doesn't care about their customer base they already know they pretty much have a lock on the market.  The issue at hand is this problem needs to be fixed and fixed immediately.  Perhaps if their customer base starts requiring their money back for failure to provide the contracted services, they will do something about the issue.  In the meantime, there is always AccountingPower by AccountantsWorld and Patriot Bookkeeping software.

You are asking for too much.  They are GREAT in taking our money, but when it comes to fix problems - good luck.

I am currently having this issue.  Several times a week.  I login and then it crashes.   I am the only user.  I use QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022 on one computer with the files on the computer.  I have tried file doctor Quick Fix, but this issue seems to happen almost every day.  I eventually get it up and running.

Exactly the same here.
