I have somehow duplicated my Jan 2024 vat expense. Subsequently it is showing in the vat suspense account incorrectly. If i try and delete it it wont allow me to. How can I sort this out please?
Does anyone know if/how I can access VAT returns filed in QuickBooks desktop?I am using the Amazon AppStream tool provided via the QuickBooks Desktop app to export data, however it only lets me view VAT100 reports for the last quarter. When I enter customer parameters to look at earlier returns, the VAT return appears blank. Any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated!
Why is my VAT amount not showing the correct figure?
Firstly, we are unable to contact support. As Irish customers, we only have chat support not telephone support. Today we have tried 6 times to contact support; they join the chat and leave it straight away. Our issue is with 2 transactions appearing on the Exception Report for VAT that are not genuine. They are doubling the VAT for these transactions which was previously filed thereby reducing our liability incorrectly.
Hi all We are not VAT registered so I have the Default Tax Rate Selection in Settings, Advanced to NO VAT. So, I set up a new rule, whereby the expense it split into 2 or more categories and the VAT status set to No Vat. When I have a payment record that has come through automatically from the bank link up, the splits are correct but the VAT rate is always blank, meaning I have to re-enter this information. Not the end of the world but surely the VAT rate should save with everything else in Rules so that I can just "Add" the transaction.Or am i doing this completely wrong!
We have recently started working on a new client. The client has previously done all their own accounting and VAT submissions in Quickbooks.I would like to understand what the process is for me to submit their VAT as an agent and for the client not to be able to make the submission. Do I need to have an accountant login? Assuming I will need to then relink MTD to the agent login? Once this is linked to the agent login will the client be unable to submit the VAT return?Currently I have normal user access and not accounting access, assuming this will need updating?
Client is set up as a primary admin and tries to log in using their own login credentials, but it doesn't seem to want to do it. Client is also using same email address for another client and that works fine.
I have been through the help files, and found this"If your supplier refund comes through your automated bank feed, you don’t need to record it manually. Simply use the Add function to add the refund as a deposit, and categorise it to the Creditors (Accounts Payable) account."Again adding it as a deposit increases my VAT, but since it is a refund, it should just contra an expenditure, with no affect on VAT. How do I fix this. If I can't, then it would appear Quickbooks is not for me.

Below there is sample break down the amounts which should be enter for each relevant box on VAT return when using the Flat Rate Scheme (FRS), 11%, with a turnover of £1000 (excluding 20% VAT) and a purchase from Ireland for £100 with the 20% reverse charge (20% RC SG). In summary, the first amount reflects the amount that I believe should be correct, and the second amount shows the amount that QuickBooks includes: Box 1: Should be £152 (11%on £1200=£132+ reverse charge VAT here, which is £20) QB: £132 (QB shows just VAT due on sale, without VAT on purchase from Ireland)Box 2: £0 £0 Box 3: £152 £132 (QB)Box 4: £20 £20Box 5: £132 £112 (QB shows under calculation of V
We are charged 100% vat seperateley. How do you enter it
I accidentally logged in to the wrong GOV.UK account when re-authorising MTD on my Quickbooks VAT management section - now it just consistently tells me it can't connect and provides me no way with re-authorising.Why do I constantly feel that Quickbooks is in "beta" when it's actually decades old?
I have issued a credit note to them for the VAT, and refunded it.
Hi We have a company that's been set up in QB when it wasn't required to be VAT registered. We are in the middle of applying for voluntary registration and I'm getting up to date. If I enter a purchase invoice there's no VAT section in which to enter VAT. I want to enter some purchase invoices for which we will be able to claim input VAT once we get registered. If I go to the VAT section in QB it looks like someone's started to enter details (I inherited this, it's not my doing). If I go to Edit Settings I can see that it wants a VAT number, but I don't have one yet. There's a VAT number in the "What’s your 9-digit VAT registration number?" box but it's rubbish, it doesn't exist. Am I unable to enter purchase invoices and account for the VAT until I have a VAT number? Has VAT been set up incorrectly in this company and is it fix-able? Should I wait until I get the VAT number and then post my invoices? I was hoping to get ahead of the game. Thank
Hello! I am not able to file VAT as cash basis in QB desktop pro 2020. When I click 'File VAT Return' it defaults back to accrual basis.Does anyone know how to fix this? Please??????
I have a UK based client who sells on the web both in the UK and EU and has warehouses in the EU from which EU customers are supplied on sales through Amazon. The EU vat is either paid by Amazon on behalf of the client or through a vat account the client has set up for the relevant country. My client uses a 3rd party to export the Amazon EU sales to QuickBooks Online which creates invoices which include the EU vat which is shown as 20% vat although the vat amount is at the relevant rate for the country. As the EU vat has already been paid I am using an App to gross up the net amount, so the invoice reconciles with the payment, and reduce the vat to nil coded as no vat. No vat is, thus, payable to HMRC. However, the sales are then overstated and need reducing by the relevant EU vat rates which can be done by a journal between sales and the bank accounts from which the EU vat has been paid.Is this the correct procedure or is there an alternative ?
Is it important to save VAT refund at the page?
Hi there, I could use some help on how to set up VAT codes in Luxembourg. Regards
I've just done my first VAT return. I'm on the flat rate scheme. Frustratingly, now I've turned on VAT, quickbooks online makes in compulsory to add a VAT rate for every expense. This is not needed, since we're on the flat rate scheme and all our expenses are under £2,000.00. I've had to go through and edit my auto rules for every expense type to include a VAT rate, and will have to add them on every time I have a new type on expense. Given the whole point of the flat rate scheme is to eliminate the need to keep and input VAT records of your expenses, it's frustrating that Quickbooks makes you input them anyway. Is there any way of turning this off, or setting a default VAT rate for all expenses?
tried live chat, waste of time, all I want is when I am doing invoices to have a default tax rate already there rather than have to select from the tax dropdown each time, 99% of the time the tax rate is 20% so I just want it there already.
