I have a series of rebates from HMRC from purchases/services that I reclaim. What do I categorise the HMRC money that I receive into my account? It's not income. Thanks
I'm using a bridging software VAT filer to submit quarterly VAT return to HMRC.The present VAT 100 Report does not have required details of Company name, VAT Number, VAT Period Start and End Dates. How can I changre the setting son the VAT 100 Report?
Hello all I seem to have an issue with vat return for july-sept quarter. We had one amount, let's say 25k they we thought we were due and this is what vat report on QB say. Then HMRC got back to us and say hey guys it's wrong you only get 10k from us and refunded what they said they will. Now QB is showing 15k balance plus is down by this amount in vat suspense. How do I fix that ? To add, when new vat quarter was done, QB asked to post a difference journal for that missing amount which went to vat control. Now we couldn't amend or delete so my boss posted a manual journal to clear. Should this have been done ? Thanks
I was required to submit a 5 month vat period which I was not able to since I had QBO set up as half yearly and I had already made a previous submission. I ended up submitting it manually. However, I still have the rejected submission in quick books. How do I edit it to reflect the correct filing I already made?
In Quickbooks Desktop Pro the VAT detail Report shows only Sales, Purchases, VAT on Sales & VAT on Purchases. It does not show the VAT Return boxes & particularly EC transactions. Somehow I have 2 HMRC agencies. Help please. How can I correct this?
Hi. I am using A2X to input my Amazon sales transactions. A2X states that the settlements have been sent to QB yet when I look in Sales/All sales there is nothing there. Have the transactions been uploaded and if so where are they? Thanks
Hi. I have uploaded credit card transactions which now show in the Expense Transactions area without VAT. I have activated VAT in the taxes section albeit after I imported the transactions. I have several hundred transactions so I need a bulk action solution to show VAT.Thanks
Hi - I’m hoping for some help with two VAT-related questions. I’ve imported and reconciled figures for the 17/18 tax year - this is historical data, all the HMRC, VAT, etc. filings for that year were done outside of QBO - but I need to get QBO matching the existing accounts as much as possible. We registered for VAT in that financial year, so I need to reproduce our first VAT return - my understanding is that I can set that up and use ‘Mark As Filed’. I have to adjust the figures that QBO is calculating to take in the amounts we back-claimed from before the 17/18 financial year - QBO obviously has no way of knowing what these were. Looks like I need to adjust Boxes 1, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 to get QBO matching what was filed with HMRC. My first question is - in the ‘Adjust’ tab - what Adjustment Account should I be using for these adjustments? QBO help says:“If you are making the adjustment because you received a credit and you owe less VAT to the government, choose
I've just gone VAT registered January and started with Quickbooks at the same time. I understand that I might claim VAT on capital assets I still own that I purchased before registration. So I have worked out that I have around £2k that I need to reclaim on my first return. Given that these purchases predate theVAT period How do I add this 2k into Quickbooks so it will show up in my VAT return? Thanks.
Hi, I am new to QB, whilst trying to reconcile my bank statement, I have come across a payment to HMRC for my 12/18 VAT return. I have only just registered, with the start of my accounting period being January, so this payment is outside of QB. There is no VAT return to match it against. How should I log it please? Thank you very much.
I started my company in August last year (IT Contractor) only hoping/expecting to operate it for a few months. That hasn't transpired and I went over the VAT threshold in December 2018 when I registered for VAT. I have received a payment for VAT due from that date which is the VAT that should have been on my invoices since December. How do I record this as an invoice with an associated payment? Logically I want an invoice that has no value but £12000 worth of VAT so it goes into the correct account in the books. Hopefully this makes sense and somebody more able than I can help.
I was using QB pro 2016 for producing Quote, invoices and Purchase Orders only. On 1st of June 2018 I started using it fully. Three quarters later I find VAT refund entry dated 9th July 2018 in our bank account statement. Refund relates to Quarter March_to_May 2018. How do I now record this in QB so the bank statement is reconciled.
