Classic view vs. Modern view onreports

I'm trying to review the P&L for the year, and it keep switching me to modern view when I look at a detail transaction from the report. Then it changes the date and it's taking 3 times as long to go through the reports for the year. I have to do this with every client. How can I set all reports to classic view? Nothing I googled is working. I wish they'd stop changing the look just for the sake of changing it.

USER EXPERIENCE MATTERS. Someone at Intuit missed the boat on this one. Why on earth would the "modern" and "new" view mode require MORE steps to view a transaction?!?! It's literally harder and less of a clean experience - what is the point of it? I'm very curious to understand what the modern view is supposed to achieve? So I too will join the long list of other extremely disappointed in the modern view and the inability to turn it off by default.

I see no benefit of the Modern view. Please switch back to classic view or give us the option to default to the classic view.

I'm new to the thread and it started in March. It is now nearly November, has QBO allowed us to choose a default yet? the modern is without a doubt annoying and not good accounting. A step back.

I understand the importance of setting your report view on default. Let me share an insight about this feature you want to have in your QuickBooks account.

Currently, the feature to set the view of your reports by default is unavailable. However, I recommend sending a feature request to our Product Development team to help improve your experience with QBO and get this feature considered. You can follow the steps below to navigate in your account.

Select the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
Type in your comments or product suggestions.
Select Next to submit.

We are getting ZERO feedback by doing this. So many of us have done this, encouraged our peers to, and also submitted feedback multiple times. QB is not showing users that they are considering our feedback. The Classic report now has even less functionality, showing users that they are being forced to try to use the Modern report, and before we know it, the Classic option will be gone. Like I have said before, using the Modern report is a waste of time - I do not want to have to expand my data multiple times, I do not want my data collapsed or summarized. I want to be able to refresh my report with dates vs. trying update dates and "Save" the report of which then it pops up and asks if I want to save it as a default report (I DO NOT) which is yet another click. It's embarrassing being on with clients and having them see how much of a waste of time it is to use the Modern report when the classic report presents all data in a quick glance. I can't emphasize enough how it sucks to explain to a client that QB changed the report (that they are used to looking at too when we meet) and to "Bear with me" while I get the data to pull up. When I click on the Classic report, I can no longer expand my column for description, etc. so now I have to go all the way into the transaction instead of being able to expand the description and talk about the transactions displayed. My clients are also not happy that analysis I used to do, takes me longer. They now are paying extra for QB's forced change and it forces my company to eat costs b/c how do we justify that "Well QB changed things, so now it takes longer, so now we are billing you more". Sorry - but that's not ethical.

Please provide an actual response about where all of our Feedback has been going and IF anything we've submitted is being considered OR if QB has decided it doesn't care and that Modern will be "the report of the future" that we will be forced to use while we have clients on QB.

While you are at all that can you allow us to default how many days a report shows when it firsts opens instead of defaulting to the last 90 days.

Modern reports are horrible and I can't believe ya'll are going to change some to them permanently. All I do is waste time changing back to classic and loosing the date as other's have saidl.

another weird thing i just noticed - in classic view.. i'm sure i would go to chart of accounts (classic view) and click on an account and the account detail / transactions would open up. Now its going to the edit account box.. is my memory faulty or did this get changed up!??! It was always easy enough to edit an account.. but not accessing the transaction data (that's my preferred way through the COA.. unless i've forgotten!!)
Can anyone verify that my memory is right? (or wrong)

There are several changes made to the Chart of Accounts page. One of them is when editing an account or viewing transactions. I understand the importance of switching back to the old interface. Here's how:

Go to the Transactions menu.
Select Chart of Accounts and then click Feedback.
Add the request you'd like to add, then submit it.

Thanks! feedback sent. I hope you guys are also sending feedback to developers. you guys have to deal with all the discontent.. can you just tell them to stop changing things.. we were happy with how things were!! If you get lots of feedback for something new - add it but don't change the old ways.

i don't need to click on an account and go to edit.. i usually need to go to the transactions. i will edit it another way or the arrow on the side that used to be there.. but having NO way to go to see the transctions from the report page is really hard to get around.

PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!!

The "modern" reports are frustrating to use, assume things different from what I need, and generally are less useful.

Fix the "modern" reports BEFORE you force users to only use them.

I get that your team is convinced that these are "so much better" than the classic -- but I don't agree and I don't want to change until the modern reports work better.

There is a way to stop the system forcing you to Modern Reports and default to Classic (in most cases)....for now.

If you are using Chrome or Edge browsers, download the browser extension: HTTP Request Blocker (google.com)

Once installed, click Add new (pattern) and add this text below and save:

*://*.universalreportinsights.api.intuit.com/v1/reports/legacy/qbo/convertToCapabilityReport

I haven't tested it too much and my usage might be completely different to other users so let everyone know if it causes some other issue.

It also hides the modern view button, so if you use those, then don't do this.

If you have problems, just remove the Chrome/Edge extension.
