How do I change the name of the person who handles our QuickBooks, the one listed no longer works here.
Hello. I have a contractor who is 1099 eligible. She was married within the year, and that led to a last name change. When I run the 1099 report, they are listed as two separate contractors. The married name is under the $600 threshold so it won't let me file one. How do I combine the two so the total they were paid is accurate?
I am new to QBO advanced, but have been a desktop user for over 20 years and I am trying to find a way to track project status or progress. We are a service company and do not have any inventory or sell products only servicesI have multiple customers with multiple projects at the same time and spans more than a year.We create a project for a customer, within that project we create an estimate titled "Work Order"This work order can have between 1to 60 things that we have to address and report back to the customer advising the status of each thing (I am not using items here to avoid any confusion) Each thing may require different directions for staff to act on. Example Thing 1, was brought into the shop to repair Thing 2, we have to order parts for

I own a restaurant. Every day I run a sales report. I enter the sales receipt into quickbooks. Food , Liquor, Beer. Everything is noted as cash drawer. When the credit cards settle the next day they go into my bank account. I use the cash drawer as the account that the funds come out of. Problem- How do I account for credit card tips? Example- $200 in sales goes into "cash drawer". Credit cards settle the next day- $100 payment + $50 tips. but I paid those $50 to staff already so how do I account for them?
This year our quickbooks was condensed and not in a good way. We now have information in an old QB file and our new QB. Although the balances are correct in the new quickbooks, the amounts don't show up on the 1099 correctly. My question is, can you make changes to the 1099 before they are printed?
Hello, We gave a rent concession to a tenant due to a major plumbing issue in November. The tenant chose to stay in the home during the few days it took to get things back up and running vs taking our offer for a hotel. We gave a one-time rent concession for a portion of December's rent. I'm trying to figure out how to document this within QuickBooks. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I haven't been able to locate any suggestions on Google or in this form. Thanks
Hello - Someone needs to provide an explanation for behavior observed this morning in my account, it took me over 45 minutes to figure this out. In addition, I tried clearing cache, Incognito Mode, Desktop Mode and switching between Chrome & Edge. 1. I went to categorize expenses and suddenly multiple accounts I've had marked as Billable with an assigned Income account had the Billable option Unchecked and the account unassigned. I know this to be 100% true because I've been using it like this for months. 2. I went to log an additional Time Entry and the ability to do this was removed. My ONLY option was to click "Learn More" to subscribe to "QuickBooks Time" and then decline the offer. I did this when I initially transferred from Desktop to Online, there is no reason I should have to justify my experience and selections. 3. What else have you defaulted in my account? Should I expect to have settings randomly changed in an on-going basis? Honestly - QuickBooks Online

For 2023 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC forms: If you e-file your 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC with us, beginning in 2024, you can submit amended 1099 forms through QuickBooks Online. Check back later for instructions. I'm checking back for assistance.
Hello all, I received donations in 12-31-23 but they were deposited in 2024. We are on the cash basis. Do I entered in the deposited dated for the year they are for. For example, a $$20 donation received in 12-31-23 for 2024 was dated 1-4-24 as it was the dated that it was deposited on. But a $20 donation for 2023 was dated 12-31-23 as it was for that year even though the actual deposit was in 1-4-24. So it wouldn't over state January's P&L. Is this the correct way to account for these donations so that the P&L are accurate?Thank you
I have QuickBooks Online that my accountant 'manages' - I pay him a fee for it, and he has access to it. Using QB for 18 years; QBO 7 years. We want the ability to create an estimate for someone who is NOT a customer yet. I cannot find a 'leads' section the support document talks about.I cannot find a 'customer type' field under customers. If I add in customer 'notes' section that they are a Lead, not a Customer, by typing that out, I have no way to display this note in the customer list. I also would have no way to filter on a lead vs customer from the notes field while viewing a list of customers in QBO. I am new to estimates. Seems that you can only add an estimate to an existing customer.Unlike most CRM systems where you take a potential customer (lead) and qualify them and send an estimate out, and only once they buy from you they become a contact, QBO wants to create them as a customer. They aren't a customer. They haven't bought yet. I have a feelin
Why does QB encounter problems calculating sales tax when the customers are set up with sales tax rates. It will mark some items a taxable and others NOT taxable on the same invoice. After I enter everything it will not save.
We have set up landed cost on our quickbooks and have successfully allocated freight and duty bills to recieved goods. However, we just stumbled upon a situation where landed cost is not working. Often times, we will get 1 Invoice from our vendor that has 2 purchase orders on it so when we recieve the item with bill, we click both of the POs that are being recieved/ billed. We have found that landed costing does not work when there are 2 POs on one invoice. You go through the whole process but at the end when you click post to bill -- nothing happens. The cost of the goods does not change to account for the freight or duty. Please help as we can not split invoices to be one purchase order per invoice.
Hi, When trying to import QB web connect file, there is no account to select only to add a new account. Looking for recommendation how to proceed. last year I had to delete and recreate my back feed for BOA.
I have been asked to help out with the books for a small business for a friend. They have a soda machine that they collect money from to use as petty cash. No formality to it. Sometimes they pay for a drink, sometimes they don't. I have $59 in cash that needs to be deposited. Do I need to create an account and invoice and receive payment for that? or can that be entered as a journal entry?
I am looking to attach copies of vendor invoices/receipts to every expense transaction. In using the new receipt management feature, where do these files live? Is is still the attachments center in Quickbooks? I have a file in the same folder as my QB company file called 'Attachments' as well. Essentially, is the receipt management feature just a different way of doing what I was previously trying to do with the Attachments Center? I have thousands of receipts (in jpeg or pdf form) saved in folders on my Desktop. They are named according to the vendor name and date. However, when I try to attach each receipt to the corresponding transaction, it changes the name of the file to something random with a bunch of numbers and letters. How do I get it to keep the name of my original file as what it was originally named (with vendor and date)? Any help would be appreciated! In starting this project I want to make sure I am doing it right the first time and don't get stuck putting a b
How do I enter a donation check that was dated 2023, but not deposited until 2024? I need it to be included in the donor's 2023 total.
The legal firm and the fees we paid are showing in "unreportable" for 1099 prep, but I think the payments should be reported.
I know of two attorney accounts that meet the criteria for 1099 forms and have been paid in 2023. One received a 1099 last year. Both attorneys have the box marked to Track 1099. Neither is showing up on the preview for 1099s. What may be missing in QBO? This is my first time to do 1099s in QBO for this company.
