Hi, I am curious on how to enter in short term rental properties in QuickBooks Desktop. As of right now we have it in as a "job", but I believe it needs to be done a different way so we can keep up with expenses better. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Hello - I have a small antique space in an antique mall. Every year at tax time I am concerned that I am not entering my opening and closing inventory values correctly. I had reconciled my opening inventory in early 2024 and have calculated my closing inventory by the appropriate formula Opening Inv (2024) + Inv Added (in 2024) - COGS (in 2024) = Ending InventoryMy reconciled opening Inventory for 2024 is $10,344.64My Inventory added in 2024 is = 8864.33My COGS for items sold in 2024 =$5938.25My unreconciled inventory (through physical count) = $13270.64 So first, what is my Opening Inventory journal entry for $10,344.64Next, what is my Closing Inv (before physical inventory count) for $13,270.64Finally, after I perform my physical inventory for 2024 ending inventory, how do I journal an increase or decrease based upon that. Hi,I have connected the Square App. I have it configured it to import daily summaries of transactions. I also imported all items from Square into QuickBooks Online. Unfortunately, when I go to review the imported transactions, every transaction shows the "Fees" to be equal to the Total Collected. So, for example, if the Total Collected = $70 the Fees will be $-70 and the amount for the Deposit is always $0. I have attached some screenshots. I would appreciate any help or suggestions! I have disconnected and reconnected. I have looked at every setting, but nothing seems to explain why the entire amount is categorized as "Fees".Thank you!

Has anyone else get a phone call from [Removed], claiming to be with Quickbooks support? Heavy Indian accent man who asks for the person in charge of the Quickbooks account. When I ask them to verify the account number they are calling about so I know they are legitimate he quickly says he as limited information and can transfer me to an account specialist. I called the number back, they answered "Quickbooks Support team", but the fact that they called not knowing the name of the Quickbooks contact person (which is listed on the account) is a big red flag.

Our company sold a property for 1.48M where the net proceeds from the trust was for 1.47M which was received in the bank. But I still have a open inventory account for the same property for 1.8M; how do I record the journal entry to close the inventory and for the sale of property as it is a income for the company?
As the title indicates, the new invoice format does not allow us to pull time charges in if the time is allocated to a customer directly.We have a major customer that, due to the nature of how they operate (which is less than ideal for us but unfortunately we have no say in the matter), results in us performing work, and as the work progresses the payroll pushes the time expenses to the customer, but not against a specific job or estimate.In the old invoice system, we could then pull just the time from the customer directly to the invoice. In the new system, the only items that show up under the suggested items are estimates which do not contain any of the information we need to pull over.We do have 'Make expenses and items billable' turned on, and have had it turned on since we first setup QBO years ago. I am trying to find out how to turn off automatic numbering for invoices. I open Preferences but don't see Sales & Invoices as an option. I have Sales & Customers but, that does not offer me the option to turn off the auto-population.I am using Premier Plus Contractor Edition 2024 Desktop.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you

We sell state lottery & scratch offs as well as pay winners. Technically we get reimbursed for the payouts, but it really ends up just being a carry forward until we owe the state, then we pay them a lesser amount. However, this daily lottery payout amount needs to come off of our undeposited funds as we no longer have it to deposit. How should I correctly set up a lottery payout account to accomplish this? What other accounts should I set up/use in order to accomplish the accounting for the lottery? The full sale (which we have to pay out at some point less a %) is included in our daily sales. I was thinking I could leave that full amount then offset the payout to the state with COGS, thus reflecting in our P&L. Is this the most efficient way? Is there an easier way that includes all aspects plus the lack of cash due the payouts? Thank you.

Hello, I am rather new to QBO as a business owner and have taken a couple of college courses but am stumped. Hoping to get a little help. We have a number of bills that come from the same suppliers and get billed to different customers as line items and attachments on invoices. One supplier sends 4 or 5 unique bills a month for 2 or 3 different clients, but when I go in to allocate the bills to a specific client, the billable box is already checked off and the client is selected. It's as though there is a rule set up that when supplier A sends a bill, allocate to client B, but there's no rule in the list. Help!! I have to be so careful that we're not billing this one client for charges that aren't theirs. Any advice would be appreciated.
QUICKBOOKS CHECKING IS A SCAM RAN BY GREENDOT We made a payment to amex from QB (not QB apparently) checking and it did not go through. It then re tried and the second time it went through on QB checking $15k but Amex never got it. It has been over 3 months and we have received 0 help. Literally NONE. QB checking is a scam. Ask anyone from actual QB and they will tell you.
Our company has QBO advance subscription. Sometime in January, we were going to review all vendors and file the 1099s, but when we logged in, we noticed that all 1099s had already been filed. No one from our team is saying they filed those. There are several mistakes and many vendors who did not get the 1099s. I am wondering how those could have been filed - automatically?

Please bring back the subject line memo in receipts! I finally nailed down a system for emailing receipts to QuickBooks, and I would put all the pertinent info in the subject line of the email (vendor name, date, invoice number, invoice or receipt amount, and customer name, and any other helpful info that may not be on the receipt itself). This was important because the information doesn't automatically populate in all the fields, or sometimes the digits were read incorrectly (or not at all). It was perfect because this subject line would show up in the memo section of the receipt or bill, so it was right there where I needed it.Well, as of maybe a couple weeks ago, presumably after one of the myriad updates, this disappeared!! I am really hoping it's a glitch because it was immensely helpful, and I don't understand why it got taken away if it was a conscientious decision. Please please please bring it back.
