Assuming the use of AST (Automated Sales Tax), sales tax is automatically updated. Internally, this is managed through a taxCode, and under that, a taxRate is used. Based on this:1. Does the taxCode ID change when the sales tax is updated for the same address?2. Does the taxCode remain the same while only the taxRate changes?3. What is the relationship between taxCode and taxRate when they are updated?
I use Quickbooks desktop for a church. How and where do I post federal withholding taxes for two people? The taxes are withdrawn automatically each quarter for both. I only need to show these as expenses so where do I post what the government withdraws quarterly? I do not use Quickbooks for writing payroll checks. I hand write the two checks.
Has anyone had just awful experience with QBO customer service being unresponsive? I have multiple cases unresolved, one from 7 months ago. The most recent is they did not file my 2023 UI and Oregon Family Leave and I am getting penalized for it. I sent the paperwork to the tax resolution 2 weeks ago and they still have not responded. I have to keep calling and now they are telling me it isn't their issue and it had to do with the move from Desktop to Online. I am at my end with them and have now been on hold for 30 minutes because QBO transferred me to QB Desktop...or so they say. I don't know what to do with them since they are so unresponsive and unhelpful
Form 941 for the current quarter is available after running all updates (QB system and payroll updates). I can open it and type information into it but the EIN is RED on the first fillable page of Form 941. When I hover over this red number the following message pops out "Your return is being filed too early. The agency does not accept electronic filings of this form before the end of the period being reported. ...If you are receiving this message and the end of the period has occurred, you may have created the form too early. You need to create a new form before sending." I am not trying to FILE early. I would only like to work ahead by completing the form and saving the DRAFT FORM to file later as I have quite a few clients to file for. Obviously we all know we cannot file early. Given that we have all the information needed (Final payroll for the quarter is complete) why not allow us to complete the form early, save the draft, and submit the filing once allowed by the agen
I'm using the Connect with Square App and I added a new location in square after first setting up the app to synch.
The company address is [removed by moderator]. I am using an estimate to calculate sales tax, and AST is turned on.The shipFromAddr is [removed by moderator]and the shipToAddr is [removed by moderator]. I expected the tax to reflect Austin’s local tax rates. However, the result showed that the TxnTaxCodeRef is “5,” which maps to “[removed by moderator].” For reference, TxnTaxCodeRef “6” corresponds to “[removed by moderator].” I would like to know how to calculate the tax based on changing the shipping address, while keeping the company address fixed.
Hello, I have changed our EFTPS bank for Federal and State taxes. Everything is working correctly, taxes are being pulled from the new bank and accepted by the state and the Feds. There is one item that I cannot figure out how to change. When I make the Federal Tax payment (in QBD), the Agency listed on the summary screen is still the Old Bank, not the new bank (nor the US Dept of Treasury). Does anyone know where in QB Desktop I need to go to change this? I've looked throughout QB and just cannot find it. Thanks in advance. THanks.
A Former Employee (before my time) states that the IRS "did not receive her W-2. The IRS has no proof that she was employed with our company."All other employees were on the same generated report and they have no issues. We have double checked SS #'s, FEIN, etc. everything lines up.My question is- For Quickbooks Desktop, is there a way to have "proof" that her W-2 was submitted by our company. She is requesting something she can hand over to the IRS showing that it was submitted and or she was employed here. TIA!
I have been using Avalara Avatax for the past few years, but want to discontinue that and move to using QBO's automated sales tax calculation. I have approximately 900 products that map to special tax codes in Avalara, and I'd like to figure out in advance how to map those to QBO tax codes. Where can i find a list of the QBO tax codes with a description of how they apply to products? I have searched online and found nothing.
I have two service companies, both are based in Franklin County, Ohio. For one company, I am using QuickBooks Desktop 2024. For the other company, I am using QuickBooks Online with Automated Sales Tax. I have encountered a discrepancy between how these two different companies calculate sales tax for a service performed at a customer's location in Delaware County, Ohio.In each example, I have a taxable service item that is $100 and a taxable inventory item that is $100 and is a repair part sold at the service address in order to perform the service. In QuickBooks Online, the automated sales tax calculation applies the Delaware County tax rate of 7% to the service item and the Franklin County tax rate of 7.5% to the inventory item for a total of $14.50 sales tax.In QuickBooks Desktop, I have two tax groups set up, one at 7% for Delaware County and one at 7.5% for Franklin County. On the invoice, I can only pick one or the other. This results in having either $14.00 sales tax or $15.00 sal
I use QuickBooks (QB) Self-Employed and am having an issue with my self-employment taxes calculation. Some background:1) I have a full-time W2 job (unrelated to QB) and a part-time 1099 job that I use QB to manage my finances.2) In my tax profile, I listed my income for my W2 job so that it could properly calculate my tax bracket for estimated taxes for my QB/part-time 1099 job.3) When reviewing my estimated taxes on QB, the income tax appears correct, as does the Medicare portion of my self-employment taxes. However...4) QB estimates my social security (SS) portion of my self-employment taxes to be $0 which is incorrect. I believe the $0 SS estimate is because QB is assuming that the annual maximum SS tax is being taken out by my full-time W2 job. However, because my W2 job is a unique government job, I don't pay any SS taxes. Thus, I should still be expected to pay SS tax on my 1099 QB job. I don't see anyway to "override" the assumption QB makes that I'm already paying SS which
How do I set tax-line mapping for an account to Form 4797?
1. Does the tax code automatically change without using the invoice or estimate API?2. Currently, we are limited to Texas, but if we expand to multiple states, will additional registrations be required for tax calculation?
When my employee is running a sales tax liability report for the month, her sales tax payable isn't the correct amount. When I run the report it shows the correct amount. We checked date range and the preferences and all are correct. What else could it be?
Hello! Please see example below: 06/28/2024 - I created invoice #1111 amount $1170.67.07/08/2024 - I created Sales Tax Liability Report for June 2024, filed and paid Sales Taxes. 07/10/2024 - I got check #12345 $1116.71, applied to invoice #1111 and applied credits $53.96 (it was overpayment on 03/04/2024).On 07/11/2024 I created report Sales Tax Liability Report for June 2024 again. And I saw that Total Sales and Taxable Sales increase on $53.96!!!I think, it happened because applied credits on 07/10/2024 was recorded in QB automatically as a payment on 06/28/2024 (invoice date, not when I did it).How can I fix it? I think, it should be transaction date when I applied it or I should to change setting of Sales Tax Liability Report?
Is there a version of QuickBooks that allows me to input both my employment income (W-9) and self-employment earnings, where it can automatically calculate my self-employed salary and estimate my quarterly tax payments? Or pull my info from Intuit since that's what I use for my taxes. If there isn't an automatic calculation method through QuickBooks, how should I calculate my quarterly taxes if my business has irregular sales? What’s the best approach to estimate the amount due when my income isn't consistent? I signed up for QuickBooks self-employed which unfortunately does not provide features to calculate my quarterly taxes due.
Really struggling with this and could use some guidance. We have a POS system that produces a cash basis export each day. I take that and enter it as a sales receipt using the daily sales method described everywhere. I do not enter sales tax or tips as a product, because I have automated sales tax and tips enabled. My receipts never $0 out.I have not found ANY examples of how to enter a sales receipt when sales tax and tips are enabled. So I'm wondering if I need to turn those features off so I can use a product for sales tax and tips instead. If so, what happens to the automated tax filings?Any help would be appreciated at this point. My head is sore from banging against the wall...
I recently started bookkeeping to help my friend's restaurant . Bank account is already connected to QBO. The sales amount will be deposited after marketing and processing fee are deducted. Should I do journal entry to add deducted amounts as expense?

I have a large sales tax payable amount on my balance sheet. We were invoicing and receiving payments in QB online but using desktop for our books so no payments were recorded in QB online. How can I clear these old sales tax payables. We now only use QB online and I am trying to clean up our books.
I am required to use a 10 digit PIN to file IRS tax formApparently I have one but cannot find/remember itEFTPS says to call the IRSThe IRS doesn't answer because the government is closed (!?!)I submit for a new one but got rejected because I already have oneCan someone PLEASE help me and make this madness STOP
I paid the previous tax periods on time and when I paid them they did show as paid in the old sales tax system. Now that the sales tax system looks different, they are showing overdue. Since the interface is different than it was, I don't know how to go back and see history and get those to show as paid.
Someone needs to fix this. The Sales Tax Center won't accept a negative number for a Sales Tax Adjustment, leading to having to Journal the sales tax liability account, and even after that the Sales Tax center donesn't recognize the adjustment. This is a stupid bug.
I've run Sales Tax Liability for all dates and only the correct items are there, not the incorrect Based on Location sales tax.
