I do the books for a nonprofit that is just getting started. A donor has offered to pay some start-up bills directly - not items, but things like the rent, the building cleaning services. These are things that the organization will have to pay itself in the future, so I want the vendors and expenditures to show up so that we can easily budget for these expenses in the future. This seems like it should be treated differently than an in-kind service donation (since the donor is not the one cleaning the carpets), or an in-kind item donation (different than I would record it if a donor brings over office supplies). What's the best way to deal with this type of donation?
Hello, I have 2 qbooks accounts for 2 businesses. I use my personal amex for both accounts plus personal. I have all the statements and the transactions in a excel file (csv). The statement starts in the second account and the moves to the first. My question is - Do I need to exclude everything else and just balance one acct and then move to the other acct and do the same thing? What is the best way to do this? I have read over the reconciling with a manual upload but, just need to make sure there are no duplicates I make a mistake that I cannot fix. Thank you in advance. Sorry for the confusion. If I get this done, I will know what to do with my personal credit union debit card. Same issue.

A few months ago I upgraded switched to QB Online Simple Start. I understand that Simple Start is pretty basic and that is usually all that I need. However, now I cannot make customers inactive because of old unbilled charges/expenses that were created in QB Pro Desktop. I've search and searched and typically am directed back to going to 'All Sales' and 'Unbilled Activity', however, I don't have any option to view Unbilled Activity in my All Sales screen (I am guessing this is a limitation of using Simple Start?). When I filter by customer, I do see some old transactions with a Status of Open and Type of Billable Expense Charge but don't seem to be able to go back and unmark them as not billable (side note, I'm not sure if it is a bug but when I try to filter on the "open" status, it keeps saying that there are no matching transactions, but if I set the status filter to "All" and filter by Customer, I see there are clearly "Open" transactions). When I click on the old Billable Exp

Does anyone know of an app/program that can help automate orders between Quickbooks and a Third Party Logistics provider?
We are currently using Enterprise Contractors Edition 24.0. We've been using it for 15 years. It has always been that if 2 people are entering invoices for customers at the same time and they ended up on the same invoice number (lets say invoice 12345), as soon as the 2nd person went to save, print, or email the invoice a message would pop up that said something to the effect of "another user has saved an invoice with number 12345, your invoice will be saved as 12346" and it would automatically change the invoice number to one that hadn't been used. We have not changed anything, but now it is not changing the invoice number to an unassigned one and allows a duplicate invoice number to be used. This can be an absolute disaster in our system. How do I stop allowing it to let duplicate invoice numbers happen?
We've been using the built-in Quickbooks connector in Power Bi to import data from Quickbooks for reports. We then upload them to our Power Bi workspace online so they can automatically refresh. This has been working fine for months now, but last week suddenly started receiving errors on the online workspace preventing us from automatically refreshing. Power Bi Desktop still connects to Quickbooks and refreshes without issue so we're able to confirm our credentials are definitely still working and there's been no changes in either of our accounts. We've already been in contact with Microsoft and they suspect some sort of an authentication issue with the driver. I just want to ask around and see if anyone else uses this connector and has any ideas as to what's happening or if there's anything we can do about it.
Hey, QuickBooks. In your US QuickBooks Community, you have your threads displayed in the All, Solved, and Unanswered tabs. Can you add a tab for Unsolved? Thanks.
What would prevent the QB Admin user from setting the month end close date? I am using QB Desktop Enterprise. I have two company files that I manage. I recently tried to change the month end close date in the Secondary company from 12/31/23 to 2/29/24 and it would not change. I did not get any error messages either. I finally had all other users log out and it worked. Do I have to have them log out every time I want to to change the date? I don't recall this being necessary before. Would there be something else preventing me from changing the close date in the secondary company?
Question for the hive mind: I know QBO did not work very well in the past for those of us who need fund accounting. Is anyone currently using it successfully? I'm seeing more and more help pages and functions that seem to be making it easier to do fund accounting (or maybe I'm just desperate to get away from the clunky software my client uses). I'd like to suggest that my client switch to QBO, but not if it's going to make fund accounting more complicated than it already is. FWIW the client is a church. We'd only need the main module (not payroll). I realize they'd need to subscribe to Plus at a minimum to get the option for Classes, which I think is essential for separating out their designated and restricted funds from the general fund. Thanks for your thoughts on this!
I cannot delete a customer. They are not used in a single transaction and I am attaching a screen shot showing that (see below), but when I try to delete, QBD won't let me because it says they are being used. Please advise.

This "Gah. Your tab just crashed." happens more often when I am doing a Journal Entry or attempting to run a Standard Report. Most days, I get this error 3-20+ times. I am running Google email, Bill.com, and Expensify while working in Quickbooks Online. What can be done to fix or prevent this?
Every time I create a new invoice (new style) the side menu pops up that shows where it be edited such as customization, payment options, design and automation. Is there a way to stop this from popping up with each new invoice or is this just standard for the new style invoice?
As of today, March 13, my last pulled in transactions is the 5th. This is not helpful nor supposed to happen. I have tried every fix, including reconnecting my bank, entering credentials, etc. Nothing works. I can understand it not pulling in pending transactions, but I cannot go a week or more without keeping up with categorizing everything and pulling them in with days to sort through vs a little each day. It is frustrating. There is nothing on my bank end (maintenance, etc) that would cause this, so I am not interested in hearing that response from the help team. I have looked through the forums and seen this response used often and that is not the solution. I want to know why this software cannot pull in transactions on a regular, timely basis when my other software did it perfectly for 2 years.
I took over accounting for a company where the checks had already been ordered. There are a lot of them still, so I want to use them before changing to what I need for my printer.I am going to try to be as clear as possible in explaining my issue. The issue is that the check sheets I have are stacked with the smallest check number on top, and the largest check number on the bottom. So top check is 000 and bottom is 100, facing up. In my printer you place the papers UPSIDE DOWN into the feed slot, and it grabs the top paper but prints on the underside of that sheet. So in my printer my current stack of checks will start at 100 and work its way down to 0. I could have sworn I at some point saw a place where you can change the print order in QBO, but I can't find that as an option now.Does anyone know where I could find this option, or did I imagine it? I have tried searching QB help pages and found nothing. This is NOT a matter of the printer reverse printing. &nbs
So i user just got this error, its the only remote connection into QB. The server is running in multi mode. If i connect to the file when its running on the server I get the error, yet I can shut QB on server down and load the file from the network drive on the users PC> I ran file doctor and it told me that hosting mode was off although when logged in it shows multi users. I'm running Norton on all but temporary turned the firewall off and still no luck. I never could find the connection diagnostic tools that they were talking about.
I'll try to make this short, LOLHad Quickbooks 2000 on an old XP machine. Want to transfer it to new Win 11 machine. Lost the original CD, so bought one online. Need to access records from way back then. Other than for inventory, I dont use the program any more as the business was dissolved.Did the install with the replacement disc, and found that even thogh I can pull up the original serial number, registration number as well as the group number, (from the old machine) I have one digit too many for the serial number. So I went with the replacement CD sticker number. Install actually went fine. Now I have to get a registration number, and QB and or Intuit are not able to assist.Anyone have any suggestions on how I can try to complete the task?ANY insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
When I go into "Client Overview", then down to "Transaction Volume", what makes up the number of "Bank Account Transactions"? I can click on the other selections (sales receipts, invoices...) and I can see what is in each of those sections. But the "Bank Account Transactions" doesn't have a link to take me to this. We're not hooked up to the bank, so it's not downloads from the bank and the number is not a sum of the other selections.
Hello,I submitted request to publish my profile on Find-an-Accountant. However, the request has been rejected. I contacted customer service but they didn't know the reason. I emailed and called the accountant manager seeking the reason but I didn't receive the response until now. I don't who to contact to find out the reason to fix it from my end. I appreciate your advise in this matter. Below is the email that I am keep getting."Thank you for submitting the information and expressing interest in being published on the Find-an-Accountant site. We appreciate the time you dedicated to your application. After careful review, we have determined that Intuit is not going to approve publishing your profile on our Find-an-Accountant site. All of the documentation you submitted with your application has been deleted Find-an-Accountant.We do appreciate your interest in the Find-an-Accountant site and wish you the best for your business"
Since 2017 we've had QB and this has been a constant issue. When access' customers, items, and other files "SEARCHING the LIST" starts scanning and take forever. It can take literally 10 minutes to enter a new customer. This only happen to users like myself and my boss who have full access. The only fix I have found is to give us a new name and password. That's works for a while and then it starts all over again. I verify data and do a rebuild monthly. Also it doesn't happen to us both at once. Today 1/2 hour for the boss to get into the customer file, I can get right in. Bottom line is this is so frustrating and for the amount of thousands we pay every year for QB there should have been a fix for this issue by now. We are using Enterprise V32.0D R5. Updated June 2022Anyone have a permanent fix?
