How can I make a "non-inventory part" to an "inventory part", without deleting the items sales history or renaming a new item.

Can I change the invoice numbering sequence based on the invoice template used? Previously, we have multiple Accounts Receivable accounts set up. When you invoiced from the troop AR, The invoice numbers would start with TR-1234 and the sea base AR would start with SB-1234. We consolidated our AR accounts to 1 main AR and now all invoice number are just 1234. I would like to set up different naming conventions based on what they invoice is for and I thought the invoice template used may be the way but I can't find out how to make it work. Any help or other suggestions would be appreciated.
We had an expense that occured in 2022. We paid it in January 2023 but we need the expense to show up in 2022 when we pull up the account history. How do we do this? If I choose "Bill" - and then "Pay Bill" - even if the original bill is dated in December 2022, the date of the payment which is in January 2023, is the date that the account is debited. Thanks.
Ok we are using QuickBooks's Premier Plus Manufacturing 2023. We purchased a company, and I would like to copy some of their data to a new Company in QB. Customer information (Costs on parts sold, Name, Address and Contact) Same with Vendor information and Inventory part numbers. Or do I need to download the Customers, Vendors and the Inventory to excel and then import into the new company? Is there a way to export and then import into a new company profile? I want to setup a completely different Chart of Accounts to line up with the rest of our company. Can I do all of this with copying a company in QB? What would be the best way to do this? Thank you for your input.
We have Enterprise 22.0 Desktop and for two users messenger "sticks" and when they close down QuickBooks, it keeps them logged in. Then we can't do the night updates and/or they can't log in again until we force close Messenger. We use messenger so we don't want to shut it off and it's just the strangest glitch. For the one user, we've even deleted their login and made them a new one and it's still happening. It happens on our workstations here at the office and when they remote in from home. We've done verify/rebuilds without it fixing it as well.
I am getting ZERO help with this. All my card information is correct and has been correct for years. All of a sudden QB has a problem getting payment. There is no one to help, as I cannot call during their open hours. "We couldn't process your payment. Make sure your billing info is up to date. If the issue persists, please contact support and reference this message. (Error code:-81624)"
I create monthly invoices for 65 different units. Is there a way to auto-generate an invoice # to where it auto-changes the unit number place, month, and year? For example unit 65 February 2023 statement would read as 65022023 for a statement number. Can it be made for that number to change for each statement for each unit for each month?
When a scheduled template runs to create a recurring vendor bill, how is the "Bill No." generated?My client has over 50 recurring bills that generate on the same day, and when they ran a couple of days ago, about half of them had no Bill # come through, only "N/A" in that field.
When I try to edit transactions, record a journal entry, the save and close buttons do not work. Even trying to connect with support, those buttons are not working either. Everything was working fine yesterday. I even tried switching to Incognito mode and clearing all cache's, and still doesn't work.
Hello, when I send an invoice or estimate from Quickbooks Online, I receive multiple duplicate emails with the invoice or estimate. Sometimes it's 3, sometimes as many as 6. I want to receive 1 email copy when sending invoices or estimate, but why am I receiving multiple duplicate emails. I worry my customers are also receiving duplicates. All the emails appear to contain the same information and recipient addresses. Thank you. Jason G
After backing up prior to importing accountant changes, I opened the wrong company file and proceeded to use it for two weeks. Is there a way to transfer just the transactions needed to the correct file? Or at least, is there a report I can print that lists all of the transactions for the past two weeks so I will know what needs to be re-entered manually? How should I deal with shipping and handling of Inventory purchases? Is it by weight? I have an invoice of different purchases big and small...how to prorate the shipping to the cost if obviously the bigger purchases weight more and therefore will have a bigger price for shipping than the small ones? I am wanting to track inventory for our company. We purchase items from vendors and manufacture a product with these items and sell the finished product. I need to track the inventory of these items without adding them to the invoices we are sending our customers. We need to track how many of each item we are using per finished product and assign them to a customer so we can track inventory per job. Can I do that? How does the inventory adjust with the sale?
We have the same experiencese as everyone on the BLOG - the reps know less than we do and we're just small business owners with no accounting background or formal training. We spend 1-2 hours every time we call for what should be a 3 minute conversation and quick answer. Instead, we end up fumbling through and reading countless articles sent by the reps until we eventually stumble into something relevant. We always find the answers before they do or never find an answer and have to get back to running the business with the issues unresolved. It's a terrible waste of precious time and resources. Please advise on how your paid customers can get right to a qualified support or relationship manager contact, via phone, without delays. Thank you.
Hello I am trying to import my vendor list (using the template provided by Quickbooks). On both my desktop app and online (using multiple browsers) I keep getting a "Service Error Encountered" message. How can this get fixed? I have read other topics on this from a few years ago and none of that helped. Unfortunately I have received errors when trying to import my items also so I am wondering if Quickbooks is truly a great option at this point....
I am using Accountant desktop 2023. I use QB for online billing and use QB for payments from credit cards and bank payments. I am using Outlook (latest) to send invoices. I can send out one invoice perfectly. But the second one tells me "Quickbooks desktop is unable to send your emails to Outlook. Close and open Outlook windows and try again" If I close the QB program and reopen, it will send one invoice. The second one again displays this message. I really dont know how to fix this other than constantly closing and reopening the QB program.

I have QB Premier Plus 2022 Desktop with my desktop being the server and 4 other workstations. At least once a month the same workstation will lose the company file. None of the other workstations have ever had this problem. Most of the time I have to have a phone call with the support team that usually takes about 2 hrs. Occasionally, I can completely shut my computer (server) down and then bring it back up and restart QB and that workstation can resume working. When I do have to call support I tell them we have this problem all the time and can just about tell them the steps we have to do to fix the problem. They always go through a bunch of other steps before the very last step they try is what I have tried to tell them. They always say that if that step doesn't work then there is a problem with one of the computers. The step always works. It has something to do with creating inbound & outbound rules. The little popup box at the bottom right is VERY annoying. How do I get rid of it?
We have 2 reference numbers configured with our UPS account, but from Quick books Shipping Manager, there is only one field, "Reference" under the package section of the "QB Shipping Manager for UPS" dialogue box. It would be bad enough to not be able to put more than 1 reference number, but the problem is compounded because setting something in the Reference field puts that as reference #2 on the label, and reference #1 is always "UPS0000000000001", which is worse than useless, it is confusing.Quick books help was not helpful. They gave me the 3rd party developer who wrote the Shipping Manager, but the developer doesn't support Shipping Manager, they support their product, Ship rush, which is different, including having the correct number of reference fields when needed.Anyone use these features? Is there a possible workaround? Any ideas how to not display the bogus reference number?
For the last 8 years or so, I have entered my daily sales into a corporate portal. At the end of the month, I have generated an IIF file and imported that into QB Desktop. I will be soon leaving this franchise system, so I will have to enter this data directly into QB. The business is a retail pharmacy, so I have third party charges and payments as well as the standard sales items such as cash, check and sales tax. I realize I can create a general ledger entry for each day, but it seems that there should be a more streamlined method to enter these values into a template to avoid typing so much information about each entry. All the searches return results related to creating invoices, etc.
Hello, I have 2 general journal entries showing on my AR aging summary that I am not able to get them to clear. The original entry was made, than reversed a few days later so the total for the customer is $0.00 however I don't want a $0.00 to show on my aging. Any suggestions? I have attached a snip of the entry. Thank you!
I have a student that the COA list area does not show rules list or styles list. Ensured Chrome cache was cleared. When I views the company file the styles list link would briefly show than disappear.
