Solved

Hi. I'm new to quick books and I've done something stupid. After linking my bank account I went to the bank page and deleted lots of items that were either to do with last year's books or that weren't really relevant to my business. I now know I should have entered them as uncategorized expenses and when I go to do my first reconciliation,  which will be May....it's not going to balance. How can i bring the bank statement back in its entirety and will I have to match everything all over again. Please help me. I'm in such a mess !

We have received an advance from a customer with no specific Invoice raised yet. How do we post this as a receipt without it showing in the Profit and Loss ?

I have added many transactions to quickbooks online without hiccup. I have an issue that two transactions are not appearing in my undeposited funds when i try to match the deposit with the customer payment in my banking screen. All transactions have been done the same, when i go into my undeposited account through the chart of accounts they are both therebut when i try to match them to the transaction they are missing.

Hi,We have our QB accounts set up in GBP and linked to our sterling bank account. Invoices are raised in GBP and show our sterling bank account details at the bottom of the invoices. This is great!I want to now add a EURO bank account and prepare invoices that show our EURO bank account details.  However, when I try to add the bank details it says it can't, because the bank already exits. Technically this is true as it is the same bank, but the account numbers are different! Am I being daft?

I bank with Synovus and it seems that my only option when attempting to connect my bank to the website is it popping up with a window that provides instructions on "How to manually import transactions:". At the bottom, it lists that the service was provided by https://www.synovus.com.Am I missing something or is it just not going to work? While I know I can import the files exported as .qbo's, having to do that weekly (if not daily) is going to get annoying fast. Additionally, the update link in the top right of the Banking shortcut only opens a new window to just sign into my bank account from within QB. Thank you for any help.

I need to put customer receipts from the Banking feed onto the customer account without allocating it against an invoice. It will in the future be allocated against specific invoices, however, I don't yet have the information as to which invoices the receipts relate to so want to add as an unallocated credit on the customer's account. Any ideas how to do this?

One of my QB books didn't have password before. When I try to open it with QB 2015 and QB ask to enter password. I don't know it so I try to use PasswordReset tool to reset the password.I get the token from QB by email and enter all information. the tool passed validate the token. get .dll file and attempt to open the file. Then the tool is stopped working. A pop up windows shows the message: " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will closed the program and notify you if a solutions is available". The only button I can click is "Close Program".I use windows 7 Home Premium and .Net Framework 4.7.1.

Hi, I have some limited accounting experience and am setting up a business account in Quickbooks. My question relates to rental properties.  I purchased a property all cash in 2017. Once the property was fixed and rented, I obtained a mortgage to pull out some cash. How do I account for this? In my banking account linked to QB I have: Cash in (wire from lendor / bank)Cash out (paid to my personal banking account) Would this be categorized as mortgage, owner's investment or something else? If anyone has experience with this I would appreciate it. Thanks!!! Chris

Hello, I have a Single Member LLC taxed as a sole proprietor. Aside from my initial capital contribution, I have put personal funds into the business. My CPA/bookkeeper categorized this as "loan from shareholder". I would like to know how my balance sheet would be affected (in regards to total equity as well as tax purposes) if I recategorized it as "capital contribution"?Lastly, how would my balance sheet be affected (in regards to total equity and taxes) if I kept it classified as "loan from shareholder" but paid myself back? Would this lower or higher my total equity? Would i be taxed on it? and lastly, how would I categorize this in QBO? The reason is because I'm trying to obtain a second loan (to open a brick and mortar gelato shop) and the bank wants my total equity to be at zero and not at a negative.  Also, if paying myself back won't affect my total equity, then I'd rather use the money and re-invest it rather than leave it in the business as a loan from sh

Hi,We are a small charity - with approximately 100 small donations coming into a bank account every month.  At the moment, we pull the transactions in from the bank and then code them.  They are allocated to one GL code but we have to put 88% of the income to one class and 12% to another class. As far as I can tell at the moment, I have to do that manually.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make this more automated?  I did think that I should just allocate them all to one class each month and then at the end of the month do a journal for the 12% but I wondered if there was another way.ThanksAmanda

Any ideas on how a correct an entry from a Deposit to a Transfer?

I made a deposit to my bank a couple days ago with multiple customer payments but totaled it wrong so after the bank deposited for what I wrote down they caught the mistake and entered in a deposit correction.  Both are in my Quickbooks and I don't know how  to resolve either. Help!

Before connecting to the bank, I will manually upload more than 90 days of bank transactions using a qfx file from BofA (i.e. back to 1/1/17 from today).  After the upload is QBO smart enough to know that I already have transactions there from the qfx upload and will not duplicate once I connect the bank for future update refreshes into QBO?  Or, will it definately duplicate the 90 days and I'll have to figure out how to exclude them somehow?  It was my understanding that if the file was qfx for a manual upload then QBO, once connected for pulling in bank transactions, would treat them as already in QBO and not dupicate those dates?   Is that an accurate understanding?

Hello, I'm having no success editing QBW.ini, Quickbooks 2016 PRO Desktop.  I make a change to one of the values and save the file, but after opening and closing Quickbooks the value returns back to what is was before I edited the file.

I had a problem with my undeposited funds window which the accountant this year (2018) determined that there was a problem in 2015.  I was told to make a general journal entry from undeposited funds into the misc. income account.  I did that and had it show up in the "Make deposits" window, I was told to $0 out the deposit by entering a negative amount.  I have done this but now I am back to the original balance in my undeposited funds account.  I have tried reversing it, delete, enter again etc., and I can get the Chart of Accounts to zero out by then it won't go away in the deposits window.     The undeposited funds is a negative (-337.11) and the general journal entry won't let me add in a negative to both accounts. Any suggestions?

Hi, I found that the balance in QBs and in Bank does not match. So I checked the account history and find it generated two transactions for one.The original deposit of £200 become one payment of £200 and one deposit of £200.Which makes the total deposit for this transaction become 0(ZERO).I don't understand why a deposit type of transaction can become payment?(see attached pic)I try to edit each of them and both of the two transactions are linked to the bank history. I tried to delete both of them and review the transaction again, however, it still gives two transactions in the account history. What should I do to make it right? Thanks, Regards,Zack

I volunteer in the office of a small union local where we just started using Quickbooks for Mac 2016 (desktop).   We had been using a very older version of QB for Windows to record dues payments, expenses, etc., and our transition to a new QB has gone well thanks to some great help from Betterbooksonline.com At the same time as we did this, we also started collecting small wage assessments from members (in QB, customers) which are sometimes paid by their employers (deducted from paychecks) and sometimes paid directly by the member.  These payments should be coming in every time a member works or at least quarterly.   In checking with other union locals in the area, all record the details of these kinds of work fees per member outside of QB.  I would like to do all of this within QB.  Payments from employers cover multiple members (QB customers).   One thing we would like to be able to do within QB is to know which me

I am still farily new to QBO and am Mac based.  I am trying to download bank transactions but nothing happens.  QB conntected to the bank without problem but now my already (from last time) selected/ticked accounts are 'greyed' out and so is the green 'connect' button at the bottom.  It looks as if I am connected but can only see my accounts but can't touch/connect them.  Why is that?  Is it a Bank or QB or Mac issue or I am doing something wrong?  Last quarter it worked without any trouble.  Has anyone else had the same problem and how did you solve it?

I would like to generate an open order report that I can sort by the target "ship date" or "order number".  Only options I can find are "Open Sales Order by Customer" or "Open Sales Order by Item". "Open Sales Order by Customer" is close to what I want, but I don't like the way it is grouped by each customer.  What I really need is a continuous list in order, no matter the customer. I could output this to Excel then delete the customer separators and reorder the data.  However, I would like to do this report weekly and would like to avoid the extra steps. (Title has been edited by moderator for clarity)

I'm having an issues with assemblies requiring sub assemblies.  I though maybe I screwed up the dates in the invntory so bad they could not be resolved, so I started a whole new company and ported the Items over and re-adjusted inventory so it was all recieved on 4/1.  On 4/2 I built my sub assemblies.  On 4/7 I'm attempting to build a main assembly, but it's saying parts that are in the sub assemblies are short (becasue they've already been built into the sub assembly) and will not let me complete the assembly.  I don't have "Automatically build required subassemblies" checked (nor does it matter if I do) because the sub assemblies are already built.  And these inventory items used in the sub assembly are not reused in the main assembly (other than the req sub assembly). Inventory Items       Sub Assemblies             Main Assembly1

I have a discerpency whilst completing a bank reconciliation. The difference matches what is on the bank statement, but it does not appear on the Qbs statement to tick off? How do I find the transaction to complete taht weeks reconciliation?

An employee was unable to cash her paycheck for some reason and needed the money ASAP so the business owner took back her paycheck and paid her with cash from cash on hand/change in drawer. What is the best way to document this and still retain the withholding information? Thank you!
