QuickBooks Q&A

I am raising invoices in QB and within half an hour the balance has been dropped to zero. It is being investigated by QB and they have no idea why it is happening. I can't be the only one that this is happening to! Obviously this is impacting our debtor balances, matching bank payments and our VAT return. It is having a huge impact on our business and the issue is now with the Tier 3 team. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to resolve it?
Hi Folks, Having been forced to move from Desktop Pro to Online, Movemybooks has relatively successfully moved everything across in that the balances all agree on the 7 years we imported. What it has done really really badly is the Product List of 1600 items or so. The 15 it has moved have been marked as Services rather than non-stock parts. The rest don't exist. What a mess. Plus not one VAT code moved across on the Chart of accounts nor any supplier account number. Not good. Anyway I want to import in the correct product list that I have exported from the Desktop and placed into the sample template layout that Online wants. Ideally I want to import the correct VAT code for each item rather than having to edit each one later to add the VAT code. But where in the example QB Online excel is the VAT code placed? The only column that looks sensible is 'Tax on Sales'. Is that the one to use and if so what VAT codes should be used? S, Z or 20.0% S,&n
This is a fairly fundamental field without which we cannot setup QBO Advanced to handle the data we have been using for years in the Desktop version. It doesn't make sense to have it in the Sandbox and not have it in the live system. Even if the Sandbox is the US version, it also doesn't make sense to have it in there and not in the UK or, I suspect, other country's versions. Please, please, please, switch it on for everyone, Intuit! It's always possible that I am just not seeing it, but I have looked really hard. Without Customer Type we cannot import data into Advanced Online with all of the information we need.
I have worked out what all the other options do, but not this one.
As a UK charity, we keep records of three types of equity - Restricted funds, Designated funds and Unrestricted funds. At the year-end, we need to wrap these up into separate accounts to show the retained funds of each type (to prove to the Charity Commission we only use restricted funds within their restrictions). However, QBO only allows one "Retained Earnings" account. Has anyone got a solution or workaround for this?
Supplier sent us an invoice with the wrong VAT rate (charged standard, supply should have been zero), supplier suggested that I pay the nett amount & they'd sort out a credit note when their accounts people came in on the Monday morning: payment had to be sent on the Friday evening because we needed the work doing there & then. I've now got the credit note for the VAT & tried entering it as a supplier credit just like the help article for a VAT-only expense but I can't adjust the VAT amount. HELP!
When I am paid by my clients Monzo auto sets money aside for tax. When this shows on QuickBooks it looks like an expense and I’m not sure how to get around it? I have categorised it as corporation tax?
Is it possible to see a project profitability report which includes the cost of labour?I have the time allocated to the project in weekly time sheets. It shows up as either Nonbillable or Unbilled time on the project page dependent on whether I tick the billable box ok, but I can't get it itemised in the project profitability report. The project is a set quoted price so I don't want to bill the client individually for labour expenses, I just want that cost to show up in the profitability report. Surely it's a pretty basic requirement to include the labour costs in a project profitability report? Any help appreciated!
When I click on Taxes-VAT I can see for a second last period VAT figures , badge Connected to MTD and then everything disappears and error message pops up: "Something’s not working. Give us a few minutes and try again. If it still doesn’t work, call us so we can take a closer look." The same issue has my accountant on different computer. Tried all standard advices like Clear cache, run QB on few different browsers, on Incognito mode- everywhere the same. One week left till VAT return deadline and no fix from QB support. They blamed HMRC but the same issue happens if I disconnect from MTD.Taxes- Income tax works correctly.Anybody had this issue?
Updated my adres but still old one on invoice

I've recently made a minor change to my chart of accounts but this is not being reflected in the new annual accounts (under Workpapers section). The change is showing in the normal balance sheet reports but not in the annual accounts that I want to submit to HMRC. Is there a way to refresh these accounts so they pick up the change and categorise the cost correctly? Thanks
I have found a posts on the US and Canadian sites about QB fetching bank statements directly from the clients online banking, rather than waiting for the client to get them to us. I cannot find anything on the UK site. But a member of my team has activated the service on a UK client with a Santander bank account. I cannot find the option on any other clients, even other clients using Santander. The link for the list of supported banks on the US site as expected only lists the US banks. Is this feature available in the UK or is this dataset in which the option is available a one-off?
