1) I recorded a manual payment in the payroll taxes without first verifying the amount QB calculated was correct. The amount calculated was not correct and now I need to change the amount on the already recorded transaction so I can reconcile at the end of the month. How to do that?
I have several businesses that employ workers with ITIN numbers, for these individuals on payroll, efiling W2s to either the state or the government is a problem. As QB always says that their SSN is invalid, because it starts with a 9. Now I've spoken with an SSA agent that verified all W2s need to be submitted with the Tax ID number presented during the hiring process. Why do you force the employers to remove or change all the ITIN numbers? Why can't we submit with the paperwork as is? When SSA says thats how they prefer it?
Last month I paid $7.50, now I'm paying $15 for the service. There was no notice of increasing prices and also doubling it! I did not agree to this and I want to know if others are experiencing the same problem.
I see that OR - PFML is set up now in the Desktop version, however it is not calculating correctly and not deducting anything. How do I create an employee deduction for the correct amount as a workaround? The payroll items for both the employee and company portions are in the payroll item list, but with incorrect rates. I can't change the rates and neither is being calculated. Thanks!
My wife and I are self-employed. We're an LLC / S.Our company pays the monthly bill for health insurance which covers both of us. Let's say it's $100 / month ($1200 annually). The monthly payroll pre-tax employee contribution for the premium is half the entire amount. Paid monthly, we each pay $50. Perhaps I'm confused, but it would seem our company is not actually providing employer-paid health care. So what should we see in the W2 box 14 items? Using the above example, we're each showing $600 for the year as Medical Insurance on our W2. And when I'm using TurboTax business, upon QuickBooks import, it notes that the company spent $1200 on insurance last year and asks how much the company spent. That amount would seem to be zero since we paid it.
when I do payroll, I'm given the total amount that I need to have in the acct to cover payroll, fees, taxes and workers comp. more than 50% of the time its never enough??? causing an NSF
Can not reinstated an inactive employee to active?
I have a unique situation that I need help with. Our daughter works in our company, was diagnosed with a brain tumor last year and being her parents, even though I do the bookkeeping, I missed filing an ROE for the time she was off (January-July 2022) because of our focus mainly being on her health and not on her employment until now. She has started improving significantly since July 2022, putting in a few hours here and there. What I need help with is Box 12. According to Service Canada, I can back date an ROE, but QB is preventing me from changing the date of Box 12 to January 9 2022 because she began working again in July and it now shows her last pay date as December 2022. I may get penalized for filing late unless I provide an explanation, and she may claim EI but needs this ROE completed first.
I'm trying to add an employee's W-4 in, but the system is saying their address doesn't match. I've looked up their address and everything checks out. How do I get past this?
I'm getting the following error when trying to run Client Ready Payroll reports in QB 2023 and 2022. Compile error in hidden module: UpdateReportsThis error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application. I have a 2nd computer and I tested on there and it was working fine. What I discovered though on the 2nd computer that Office 365 was not updated like the 1st computer was. Once I updated the 2nd computer to latest 365 update, I started to get this same error. Office 365 Version 2212 Build 15928.20216 on 1/10/23 is the update where this error starts to occur. Now I'm not sure if this requires QB to update the VBA to this latest Office update...or the other way around.
I recently received the email from Intuit discussing the new consolidated billing that will be happening. There is another paragraph in the email about change to direct deposit saying the billing will be now based on the number of contractors who have the direct deposit feature turned on. What does this mean? Is the pricing changing for making direct deposits to contractors? Previously I believe the rate was $4/payment. Does this mean now payments will be different and based on anyone who has the direct deposit feature turned on rather than based on each payment? Can you please provide more information on this, or direct me to where I can find actual information on the pricing for contractor direct deposit? It is impossible to find this information easily online.
I am a new QB Bookkeeper and just got my first client. They previously used ADP to pay employees but stopped after a few months. They are now looking to use QB for their payroll services. I am a bit confused as to how I can enter the previous payroll into QB. Which accounts should use in the journal entries for Federal Income Tax, Social Security, Medicare, State Income Tax, and State Disability Insurance. Would these be considered expense accounts or liability accounts? Also would they be debits or credits? This is what I have so far.
I recently set up direct deposit for my desktop payroll. I don't recall QB asking for the account to post the processing fee, but it is being recorded in the state job training tax account. How do I change where this charge is posted?
From the Payroll Tax Center, an action needed is to pay NJ payroll taxes. They are due on 1/30/2023. When I click e-pay, a "payment date" error comes up in red above the payment date drop down menu. Even if I change the dates, I still receive the payment date error and I can not e-pay. I can't pay any of my other payroll taxes either because the system states "Incomplete tax payment. Before paying another tax payment, finish or cancel your incomplete payment. "
Hello,Can someone confirm that when entering information into and employess tax information from the new 2020 W-4 for an employee, we input the dollar amount from the Claim Dependents section and not the number of dependents? For example, the employee put $6,000.00 on the W-4. Do I input $6,000.00 in to quickbooks or the number 3? Thank you
I see how I can add different types of reimbursements to each employee in the payroll. Is there a way in Accounting Preferences/Payroll to divide these into different Reimbursement Accounts so the different types of employee reimbursements show up on the P&L?
I am a software developer starting a new business. If I search for "CPA for software developers", all I find is software for CPAs.How can I find a CPA or a tax consultant for a software developer in California?
Using 2023 Enterprise Solutions. From the Payroll Center I click the E-file State W2 that has an excel icon beside it. Have used this since 2018. When it opens excel is has a compile error in a hidden module. I spent over an hour with tech support on screen share and they could not get it to work. On my own I have brute forced it to work. What I have done to get it to work is from Programs in the Control Panel is i have repaired quickbooks 23 and immediately repaired microsoft office. The problem is this does not always work and i have several company files that i need to use this export wizard to get my data file to upload to my state agency. Am i the only one having problems. Also i am using microsoft 365, so i know i have the latest of microsoft and quickbooks.
Hello! I am attempting to process payroll today for 58 employees and I am receiving an error message that our DD is over our DD limit. I have been on the phone w/ support today for over 4 hours and have gotten no where and I'm currently awaiting a call back from them. One told me Desktop does not have a DD limit. We have recently transitioned over to QBO however, QB Payroll is not set up, it is a HUGE mess a completely other subject so we are still processing our payroll on our Pro 2020 Desktop. Except, now I'm getting an error message. This is odd because in the past I have processed payrolls larger than the one I am attempting to process today. Any suggestions? Phone support has no idea why I'm getting the error. Thanks!
